the “i only read completed fics” crowd will never understand how much that mindset kills motivation for writers. comments and kudos are what keep many writers going. hope that helps.

The thing is, the only reason people use AI to generate fic is to then pass them off as their own work. Like, once you tag your work as AI-generated, you've defeated the whole point of you using AI in the first place. People who use AI don't tag.

AO3 support finally got back to me from last year's email about the possibility of banning ai-generated works from the archive. seems like they don't plan on (nor can they) do anything about it

Before I forget to offer up my opinion which nobody asked for, I do think it's probably ultimately for the best that the Buffy revival isn't getting made, but I do feel bad for SMG and everyone else that worked on it.

@Lydia_Eve42 Yeah. I think they put a lot of thought into this decision but the bottom line is that a ban on GenAI work in AO3 is unenforceable. We can only hope that the GenAI bubble bursts sooner rather than later. It's insanely unpopular with the general public.
