Gathoni Wamuchomba: The police now have the audacity to drive into someone’s compound, pick up their child, and eventually kill them. Albert Ojwang’ was killed by the very people who were supposed to protect him. It is deeply unfortunate, and frankly unacceptable that the Chairperson of IPOA would hold a press conference flanked by the very officers he claims to be investigating. Nelson Havi: The police spokesperson, Muchiri Nyagah, falsely claimed that Ojwang’ banged his head against a wall and was found unconscious. That narrative is untrue. Nyagah should be arrested for concealing a murder. The Deputy Inspector General (DIG) cannot be both a complainant and a judge in this matter, he, too, must be arrested. Both the Inspector General (IG) and DIG are fully aware that there is no such offense as ‘maligning someone’s name’ under Kenyan law.
