After nearly two decades in Wigan's public health team I'm taking early retirement from Friday and looking forward to the next adventure. But first I'll get the Ashes and Wimbledon out of the way. Thanks all! It's been an absolute blast.

@KateAlvanley Congratulations Kate. Thanks for all the opportunities you gave me over the past 14 years. It's definitely the end of an era in Wigan and we'll move on with a brilliant foundation to continue the momentum and achievements. Also I will miss my annual Gerard Butler calendar!

On some personal news, as I turned 60 years young a few months ago, my long-planned retirement after 14 very happy & successful years as Director of Public Health for Wigan takes place 1st July. I’ve been very honoured to work with such wonderful colleagues & citizens.

@craigjohnharris Have to admit to putting black pepper in my coffee on Thursday and I don't even take sugar. A shocker of a week!
