@1Percenterer Perfectly fine output imo for a car that weighs 3600 pounds. There’s a reason the newest M5 outputs 700hp - need to offset that 5500 pound curb weight somehow.

Early versions of the E34 BMW M5 had an S38 3.6-litre straight-six at around 311 hp, later expanded to 3.8 litres and roughly 335 hp, all delivered through a manual gearbox to the rear wheels. Compared with modern M cars, its output is modest. What defines it instead is how direct the mechanical chain remains between engine, gearbox and chassis. The E34 M5 sits at the transition point where M shifted from motorsport-derived craft toward serial production performance.

Flat-six, manual, track ready. For years, Porsche kept the Cayman in the shadow of the 911, never giving it full on track power. Then in 2015, they finally let it off the leash with the GT4. A screaming flat-six, a 6-speed manual, and track-focused handling made it the car everyone knew the Cayman could be. It will became a modern classic when the current Coxster went for batteries and electric motors.

Heritage Standard II H-535 at $3000. Yes or no? 🎸🧐 By comparison, a Gibson ES-335 with similar specs is $3500.
