In the Muqaddimah, Ibn Khaldūn rejects the idea that the Jews literally corrupted the text of the Torah, saying that the view that they corrupted it is “outweighed by the evidence accepted by rigorous scholars” and that custom prevents people gifted with divine scripture from...

One of the most fascinating Qur’anic refutations I’ve learned about the accusation that Islam allows you to “beat your wife” is the story of Ayyub عليه السلام. In Qur’an 38:44, Allah commands him: “Take in your hand a bundle of grass and strike [her] with it, and do not break your oath.” When Prophet Ayyub had sworn to strike his wife, Allah reduced it to the bare minimum of something symbolic. A handful of soft twigs. So even when an oath had to be fulfilled, Allah restricted it to the absolute minimum possible, preserving dignity while preventing harm. This shows that within the Quranic framework abuse is forbidden. Gentleness, restraint, and mercy is required, and the discipline described in Surah Nisa is symbolic at most. Now read that alongside Qur’an 4:34, and the tafsir and Hadith explaining it as non-harmful, likened by Ibn ‘Abbas to using something like a siwak (toothbrush). The principle is obvious. Islam doesn’t allow abuse. And every apologist that pretends it does is a filthy uncharitable liar.

Regardless if it's true (which it's not), beating (and harming) your wives is haram (forbidden) in Islam. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ never hit his wives, forbade striking the face, and his companion Ibn ‘Abbas (ra), commenting on Quran 4:34, mentions never to harm one's wife.

@Mintbit1000 @zaidchakir They are both true and there is no contradiction in the verses. God's speech is not sequential in that God speaks one verse then the next. God's speech is eternal and is not made up of letters or sounds. Then God put his speech into a created language.

@hashimiyy_ Salaam, If someone takes the Hadith that are weak and says that the wives are not Ahlul Bayt does that make them a Kafir, what if they did not know it is Kufr?

Ibn ‘Abdullāh al-Hāshimī
Assalāmu ʿAlaykum. I appreciate the advice, but I am a researcher who arrives at my own conclusions through a rigorous methodology. The term “Ahl al-Bayt” carries two meanings. 1. The First Meaning The first meaning refers to the wives and daughters of the Prophet ﷺ. These are the ones explicitly mentioned as being purified. Denying this would constitute disbelief, since it is established with qatʿī evidence in the Qur’ān. This is clearly seen in Sūrat al-Aḥzāb (33:31–33). 2. The Second Meaning The second meaning refers to the wider family of Banū Hāshim. This includes figures such as Sayyidunā ʿAlī, Sayyidunā ʿAbbās, and others from the Prophet’s clan. This broader usage is also referred to as the family of the Prophet ﷺ. The Ḥadīth of Ahl al-Kisāʾ As for the ḥadīth of Ahl al-Kisāʾ, the narration cited from Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim contradicts the apparent meaning of the Qur’ān and, in this chain, is weak. The chain of transmission you presented is: Abū Bakr ibn Abī Shaybah → Muḥammad ibn ʿAbdullāh ibn Numayr → Muḥammad ibn Bishr → Zakariyyā ibn Abī Zāʾidah → Muṣʿab ibn Shaybah → Ṣafiyyah bint Shaybah → Sayyidatunā ʿĀʾishah رضي الله عنها The defect in this chain lies with Muṣʿab ibn Shaybah. According to Ibn Ḥajar and al-Dhahabī, he is considered a weak narrator. Virtues of al-Ḥasan and al-Ḥusayn Loving the grandsons of the Prophet ﷺ is obligatory. They are companions, and authentic virtues are established for them. The Prophet ﷺ said: “They (i.e., al-Ḥasan and al-Ḥusayn) are my two sweet basils in this world.” [Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 3753] However, it is important that we rely on authentic narrations and precise terminology when discussing such matters. Allah ﷻ knows best.

Dear brother, with all due respect, you are starting to go out of bounds in matters that require knowledge and precision. I also saw another comment from you where you claimed that Ahl al-Bayt refers to the wives and daughters of the Prophet ﷺ, and this is simply not correct according to the well-known narrations. The wives of the Prophet ﷺ are honored and part of his household, but the hadith of the cloak clearly shows that ʿAlī, Fāṭimah, Ḥasan and Ḥusayn are specifically the Ahl al-Bayt. The Prophet ﷺ himself clarified who the Ahl al-Bayt are in the hadith of the cloak (ḥadīth al-kisāʾ). Hasan came and he brought him under it, then Husayn came and he brought him under it, then Fatimah came and he brought her under it, then Ali came and he brought him under it, then he recited: ‘Indeed Allah only intends to remove impurity from you, O People of the House, and purify you completely.’” — Sahih Muslim (2424) So the Ahl al-Bayt unquestionably include ʿAli, Fatimah, Hasan, and Husayn, and from them continues the noble lineage of the Prophet ﷺ. The Prophet ﷺ also said: «إني تارك فيكم الثقلين: كتاب الله وعترتي أهل بيتي» “I am leaving among you two weighty things: the Book of Allah and my family, the people of my household.” — Sunan al-Tirmidhi (3786) As for Sayyiduna ʿAli (رضي الله عنه), He was among the very first Muslims, in fact the first boy to accept Islam, his virtues are immense and undeniable. He grew up in the household of the Prophet ﷺ, witnessed revelation, and was the most knowledgeable of all the companions. Allah says about the earliest believers: ﴿وَالسَّابِقُونَ السَّابِقُونَ * أُولَٰئِكَ الْمُقَرَّبُونَ “And the foremost, the foremost — those are the ones brought near to Allah.” — Qur’an 56:10–11 And there is no doubt that ʿAlī ibn Abī Ṭālib (رضي الله عنه) is among those foremost in faith, knowledge, sacrifice, and closeness to the Messenger ﷺ. The Prophet ﷺ said: «أنا مدينة العلم وعلي بابها» “I am the city of knowledge and ʿAlī is its gate.” This narration was discussed and transmitted by numerous scholars in the books of virtues. «أنت مني وأنا منك» “You are from me and I am from you.” — Sahih al-Bukhari (3712) And he also said: «أنت مني بمنزلة هارون من موسى إلا أنه لا نبي بعدي» “You are to me like Harun was to Musa, except that there is no prophet after me.” — Sahih al-Bukhari (3706), Sahih Muslim (2404) No one denies the virtues of Sayyidunā Abu Bakr al-Ṣiddīq (رضي الله عنه), but claiming that the superiority of Abu Bakr over everyone by absolute consensus in the way you stated it is an oversimplification of a very nuanced scholarly discussion and simply not true. This is why scholars wrote entire works on the virtues of ʿAli, including Imam al-Nasāʾī’s famous book Khaṣāʾiṣ ʿAli. Also, do not confuse two different issues. No one is denying that Sayyidunā Abū Bakr al-Ṣiddīq (رضي الله عنه) became the first caliph after the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. That is a historical and political matter related to the khilāfah. But that does not automatically settle the discussion about rank, knowledge, or spiritual proximity to the Prophet ﷺ. These are separate discussions in the scholarly tradition. So brother, these matters are delicate. It is better to speak with knowledge and caution, especially when discussing the family of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. But please do not speak so decisively on matters of the Ahl al-Bayt and the great companions unless you are certain of what the scholars actually said. May Allah grant us knowledge, adab, and love for the the Ahl al-Bayt.

@DvXerse @ComptonJapan @Jordan_MG_ In an Islamic State, they wouldn't be allowed to build churches. If they are conquered by force their churches are destroyed. It's not part of our faith to defend churches in disbelievers lands.

Why do American Muslims need everything to be zakah-eligible? Aren't they wealthy enough to give their Zakah to the poor and fund everything else through Sadaqa and other means? What am I missing?

So where, then, is the doctrine of al Jahiz in what Hujjat al Islam has stated?” It is then asked, is there any notable scholarship explicitly stating that non-Muslims in the place we call the west now in the previous era has received the message of Islam?

"Amazement" (عجب) Allah is attributed with "Amazement" (عجب)). When attributed to Him, it has no implication of ignorance, surprise, or discovery applicable to Him, for His Knowledge is eternal. Al-Nahhas states that amazement in the Arabic language means to regard something as rare, extraordinary, or remarkable, such that one is amazed at it. For Allah, "Amazement" (عجب) is simply an action by which He expresses that something is extraordinary, making its gravity and significance known to His servants.
