In an interactive activism lab, young Muslims are asked what the main issues are facing the Ummah (Islamic nation) and how can they be addressed. None of the adults in the room react to “Jew free” response.
The session titled “Visionaries of the Ummah: Youth activism lab,” began with a 20-minutes of praise for the Muslim Brotherhood and its founder, Hasan al-Banna delivered by Khaled Al-Qazzaz of the lobby group CMPAC.

This past weekend at the @MACNational Convention 2026, CMPAC Chair Dr Yaser Haddara and CMPAC ED @kalqazzaz led a number of important panels and discussions on Islamophobia, civic engagement, religious freedom and community leadership.
The conversations explored the importance of moving beyond reactive responses to Islamophobia toward proactive Muslim leadership, protecting the right to worship and participate fully in public life, and reflecting on how the ongoing realities in Gaza have shaped broader conversations around faith, justice, and public consciousness.
The panels brought together scholars, advocates, and community leaders for timely and important discussions centered on principled engagement and strengthening Muslim civic participation across Canada.

The Government of Canada and the CBSA deliberately targeted Muslim scholars invited to the MAC Convention this week.
Visa cancellations. ETA holds. Hours of interrogation at Pearson. Scholars denied water. Subjected to vulgar language by federal officers.
This is Islamophobia operating through a federal agency, and it will not go unanswered.
This is happening on the watch of Public Safety Minister Anandasangaree. MAC is calling on the Prime Minister's Office to immediately investigate, hold those responsible accountable, and end this treatment.

The Muslim Association of Canada (MAC) has released a statement condemning Israel’s closure of Masjid Al-Aqsa in occupied Jerusalem and the ongoing restrictions preventing Muslim worshippers from accessing this sacred site.
MAC is calling on the Government of Canada to take a clear and principled stance in support of religious freedom and the protection of Masjid Al-Aqsa. The statement also raises concern over recent actions that threaten the sanctity of the site.
Masjid Al-Aqsa holds a sacred place in the hearts of Muslims worldwide, and ensuring access to places of worship remains a fundamental pillar of religious freedom and human dignity.

Bill C-9 still threatens religious freedom in Canada.
The Bloc amendment removed the long-standing protection for faith-based expression. The government’s new language does not fix the problem.
MAC is calling for the exemption to be fully reinstated and the bill paused.

We were honoured to welcome PM Mark Carney to the MAC Eid Festival in Ottawa.
Eid this year falls on the Afzaal family anniversary — a reminder of rising Islamophobia — and as Gaza continues to suffer with the ongoing genocide, we reflected on our responsibility for justice at home and abroad.
We shared with the Prime Minister our values as Canadian Muslims — and our commitment to a stronger and better Canada.
