Yes, they justify these tactics by saying "hey, look at our survey, people are buying more ground beef than steak, so ground beef should be weighted higher". Why do you think people are making that exchange? It's because steak is more expensive and has inflated at a higher rate. You're just describing the process in an articulate manner. But at the end of the day, they don't compare apples to apples year over year. So the number is less relevant to the consumer.

@MAC_fearsnone @blockchainchick You are lying. CPI doesn’t swap steak for ground beef, it adjusts weights based on consumer spending surveys. Both items remain in the basket of goods. BLS does not selectively choose the basket of goods - it’s updated periodically based on consumer surveys from census.

FIVE YEARS OF GROCERY RECEIPTS JUST EXPOSED THE MOST PROTECTED LIE IN ECONOMICS. Since 2019, the government says cumulative inflation is about 25%. Here is what actually happened to the things you buy every single week: Eggs: +79% Ground beef: +77% Coffee: +68% Car insurance: +55% Electricity: +43% Bacon: +26% Bread: +24% Five out of seven of those are running 2x to 3x faster than the official number. And the only two that tracked near CPI? Bacon and bread. The lowest-cost, lowest-margin items in the basket. The things that actually drain a household budget, the protein, the energy, the insurance you are legally required to carry, those are the ones the official number keeps understating. The CPI was retooled in the 1990s to reduce reported inflation. They added substitution adjustments. They changed how they weight housing. They smoothed out the things that spike. This is documented BLS methodology, not conspiracy. Food overall is up 30% since end of 2019. Car insurance premiums up 54% since 2020. Electricity just hit all-time record prices. But the official line is 2.4% annual inflation and the Fed debates rate cuts. Your grocery receipt is the only honest inflation report left.

@tombytheriver @BlackLabelAdvsr There are a lot of inexperienced and uneducated investors. So yes, a lot of investors do lose money managing rental properties. If you are the renter in those situations, you come out ahead (at the loss of the investor).

@MAC_fearsnone @BlackLabelAdvsr No they don’t. Once again, inexperienced or uneducated investors lose money. Anyone who purchases a rental property without factoring maintenance costs into their operating expenses and allocating a maintenance reserve should not be buying investment properties.

Owning a home is a money pit. If someone tells you otherwise, they’re lying to you. I’ve lost track of how much I’ve invested in my yard, AC system, air filters, plumbing repairs, water filtration, bidet filters, mold repair, painting, fence replacement, etc. Be warned!

401k's also removes all ownership from the individual investor. You don't own any of those companies you're invested in. You are forced to buy in to specific funds. You give up all shareholder voting rights to Vanguard. You own nothing and you give away all of your power.

@BlackLabelAdvsr You pay for all those things as well as a renter. You just don’t see it, but it’s built into your rent payment. Investors don’t purchase properties to lose money!

The delta in valuation multiples between companies viewed as having AI risk and those viewed as AI "winners" is literally comical. High growth, highly profitable businesses with AI risk might not trade at 10x EBITDA. Peak AI hype cycle businesses that are unproven might trade at 100x revenues. Undoubtedly, there are great opportunities to invest in businesses viewed as having AI risk today. Valuations are beyond sentiment driven right now and that will ultimately normalize back to fundamentals.

Shawn Ryan says Trump betrayed the MAHA movement by backing immunity for pesticide companies. “Did you see the glyphosate stuff?” “Immunity.” “Because of what? A national security issue?” “Do you know how many people died of cancer last year? 618,000.” “That’s somehow not a national security concern.” “You know where the highest concentration of glyphosate is? It’s in Iowa.” “Do you know where the highest concentration of cancer is? It’s in Iowa.” “And he just gave them (pesticide companies) immunity.” @joekent16jan19 @ShawnRyan762
