GE received a huge chunk of taxpayer money and then didn't deliver. they are giving back $87 million to the city, which is a relief. But ... did they have to? Could they have kept it if they wanted to? Reminder to put a clawback in any such deal (though, don't make those deals)

It's #TaxDay, and it serves as a reminder that not everyone plays by the same rules. Thanks to games and loopholes, many highly profitable companies pay nothing on their protits

I'm just gonna keep on saying it: The job promises of these "site negotiations" are always bunk. We shouldn't waste public dollars chasing after a mirage of jobs, we should be investing in a #NewEconomy that actually works. twitter.com/BosBizCatherin…

what is the rationale for deficit spending in the time of economic growth, and then inserting a trigger in that spending to roll it back in time of economic downturn? Should we call it the "all or nothing" approach?

If you're not used to JCT tables, comparisons here are not year-to-year. They are compared to current law. It's not just that taxes for under <$75,000 go up when everything expires after 2025. Taxes go up compared to Congress doing nothing. wsj.com/livecoverage/t…
