Trump is refusing to comply with a court order to fund SNAP, despite having the funds to ensure folks are fed through Nov. I convened food providers in the #MA7 who could go under as a result. Republicans are letting families go hungry & devastating local economies. Their shutdown must end NOW.

As SNAP benefits will not be supported through the month of November as the federal government shutdown continues, please remember that HIP will still provide SNAP recipients with funding to buy fresh local produce. You must keep a balance of at least 1 cent to use it.

That’s a wrap on our 15th annual Farm Tour! Central & Western Mass is home to the best produce & meat in the U.S. But I’ll be blunt: our farmers are facing serious challenges. Many told me they’re struggling to make a living amid a crushing affordability crisis, Trump’s tariffs, cuts to nutrition assistance programs, and labor shortages spurred by mass deportations. Under Trump, the message to small family farms is clear: get big, or get out. Not on my watch—I’m going back to Washington fired up to fight for our farmers. The Healey-Driscoll Administration today announced that the Healthy Incentives Program (HIP) will restore its tiered benefit structure effective September 1, 2025. Households receiving SNAP will be eligible for $40, $60, or $80 based on size.

The Urban Farming Institute in Mattapan is doing incredible work promoting access to healthy foods & standing in the gap to support vulnerable residents. It was a joy to join them in community last week for live music, to shop local produce, & to learn more about their efforts.
