@Balam_GF13 Addendum, marine chapters often go over the 1k limit during crusades or ongoing conflicts, such as with the black Templars or Astral Claws, so killing a few hundred marines is fairly damaging, but not as catastrophic, with the aftermath of the war seeing the chapter break up.

@Balam_GF13 Yeah like tens of thousands of marines died to individual planets during the great crusade.

@OptyrionPrimax I like how this anime actually kinda addressed the mentality behind an endless war between two divergent paths of humanity, and the little robot translator they used to gradually translate the local language for the pilot.

@AndrewZ24597481 People tend to forget the Kriegers have a lot of campaign lore in the forgeworld series, similar to the Red Scorpions who also had a prominent spotlight, but sadly never got a major plastic revival, but effectively extensively used MK4 armor.

People always say Cadia hogs the spotlight with the guard but I would like to point out in their own codex the Death Korps are on the front cover and they have 9 pages of the codex dedicated to them and their backstory while Cadia only has 2

@AustinJtodd Probably a good rule with dealing with craftworlders is don’t fuck with them as long as they don’t fuck with you, and unlike most xenos races, aren’t going around actively invading and slaughtering major populated areas, that’s the dark Eldar.

My honest reaction when the Tau think they are the most badass Xenos because they defeated elements from 8 chapters while Craftworld Biel-Tan defeated 10 FULL chapters.

@Dolfijnmanjohns I always saw the empire from fantasy as a much more dripped up HRE, and the Imperium to be retro sci-fi 70s and 80s industrial hard edges, like from the aliens franchise, mixed with some gothic iconography.

@MadamSavvy Like it’s not even the ideology part, not completely, it’s phrasing and diction are like at a high school level, this is something an editor would have looked over and greenlit, and like, is this the standard we’re really setting for an established IP?

@MadamSavvy I will spend hours rewriting a paragraph before deciding to scrap it for some writing project I will never share with anyone, go in circles how to best describe something or emphasize my own thoughts, and like how can someone have to pride to publish this childish sludge?

@sofiartworks The empire always rubbed off as a stratocracy, unlike fascism in the 1930s which grew through the unrest of industrialism and war, and was a political movement with an an actual philosophy behind it, the empire seized power by dissolving the representative assembly.

@AndrewZ24597481 Honestly, I like how gaunts ghosts introduced variants of Imperial vehicles that were designed for PDF use, that the Imperium is actually relatively diverse in its massive array of equipment, similar to how the Soviets kept large reserves of T-55s for less important units.

@Lorgarwasright2 I mean, despite losing the battle in one of the underground armories, the Death Gaurd engineers went up against fucking Khorne berserkers and came out, well not alive, deploying TP3 gas which melted all the remaining enemy forces.

@RevengeofCave Also no way in hell did Spielberg actually use “hyperspace shot” within the context of fucking Starwars lore, he just wanted a cool visual and didn’t really care for, logic.

@RevengeofCave The more you think about it, the more retarded it gets, the original Death Star at least made sense in the fact it needed to travel to the star system to launch attacks, with the trench run happening when the moon was in Yavin’s shadow.

@MrAntiHero1 I’d argue that space marines act as the “tip of the spear”, often supported by vast auxiliaries or Imperial Gaurd formations that are meant to hold territory, that said, a space marine relies heavily on their tactical foresight, and judgement of individual commanders.

For two the only reason why the anyone ever beats Space Marines is because the writer makes it happen because if you took what is said about them and applied ANY sort of realistic lens to them. Nothing is stopping them short of Daemons and the Necrons. Literal Centuries of battle experience. The ability to process an insane amount of battle data and react to it instantly. Their physical reaction times, endurance, speed, and strength. Which is WHY BL authors have to give other factions even more ridiculous plot armor to counter what is actually just baseline Space Marine abilities because if they didnt they'd never lose. Its fine that you dont like this. It becomes sad when you crow about the Tau winning like its anything other then plot armor and 'wankery' of their own.

@hi_ba_chi @TSoS_ @MAttank88 · 4s The original target for the empire was against imperial powers like Portugal and the US during its conflicts in Angola and Vietnam, the Empire inheriting US ranks alongside British and German influences, the Death Star is a clear allegory for the US nuclear bomb.

This feels like a scene from an alternate reality. Where did this series go? They probably should have kept Werner Herzog around and made him the main villain. He would have carried 5 seasons on his back.
Paul Anleitner@PaulAnleitner

People forget how The Mandalorian started with Werner Herzog. Yes, it was a fun space western. But there was a real philosophical struggle being explored too. This speech should have been the core of the sequel stories. Rebellion is easy. Can you build something better?

@TSoS_ Overall, Herzog had much more potential as a villain who questioned the simple and naive morality of the rebels, but he’s killed off because Gustavo fring really is the actor people want to see.

@TSoS_ Of course this is kinda a bullshit narrative, the empire was first and foremost a creation of Palpatine who wanted to rule it eternally, but that doesn’t mean the empire can change, like the Romans, empires wax and wane, reorganize and rebuild their narratives.
