On the evening of June 26th, supporters gathered at @MBWDC for an evening honoring the proud traditions of the United States Marine Corps and the life-changing mission of Toys for Tots. Prior to the Evening Parade, guests gathered at Truman W. Crawford Hall for a reception hosted by the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation. Lieutenant General Leonard F. Anderson IV, Commander, Marine Forces Reserve and Marine Forces South, was introduced by the Barracks Commanding Officer. He opened the evening with remarks reflecting on the Marine Corps’ proud tradition of service and the heart of the Toys for Tots mission. Lieutenant General James B. Laster, USMC (Retired), President & CEO of the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, followed—welcoming attendees, thanking them for their continued support, and reflecting on the generosity that makes our Program’s year-round mission possible. Lieutenant General Laster closed his remarks by introducing Richard Childress, NASCAR Hall of Famer, Founder and CEO of @RCRracing, and honored Guest of the evening. The Foundation is grateful for the continued support of Richard Childress Racing and driver Austin Dillon, whose iconic Toys for Tots No. 3 Chevrolet helps bring awareness to our mission throughout the NASCAR season. A longtime supporter of the Marine Corps and the Marine Toys for Tots Program, Childress served as the Guest of Honor and Parade Reviewing Official at the invitation of the Commandant of the Marine Corps. From the drum major's opening call to the final salute, the Evening Parade showcased the precision, discipline, and traditions of the United States Marine Corps. It also celebrated the extraordinary impact of supporters whose generosity brings hope and joy to children and families in need across the Nation.

Music has been part of the United States Marine Corps since 1775. Earlier this year, Auckland audiences experienced the precision and pageantry of "The Commandant's Own", the United States Marine Drum & Bugle Corps, during the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo at Eden Park. Established in 1934, "The Commandant's Own" is the only drum and bugle corps in the U.S. Armed Forces. Comprised of 79 enlisted Marine musicians and three officers, the Corps performs at ceremonies and military tattoos around the world, representing more than 250 years of Marine Corps tradition through music. While preparing for their Freedom 250 performances in Washington, D.C., including at the White House's Freedom 250 celebration, the Corps also brought that special commemorative program to audiences in New Zealand. Featuring iconic works by American composers such as Liberty Fanfare by John Williams, America the Beautiful, and musical tributes to The Stars and Stripes Forever, the performance celebrated America's history through music. USSOCOM Vice Commander Lt. Gen. Francis Donovan hosted Director of @thejointstaff Lt. Gen. Douglas Sims II and interagency guests for the @MBWDC summer evening parade Aug. 16, 2024, in Washington D.C. Lt. Gen. Donovan was the first senior #SOF leader to host the #USMC parade.
