Overall, this study is a promising first step in showing that ultrasound, when paired with our bone-tracking algorithm, can enhance assessments of laxity for both clinical and research applications. Please RT and DM if you have any questions or would like to discuss further! 6/6

We determined root-mean-square errors were between 0.6 and 2.2 mm of anterior-posterior translation, and 0.4° and 1.3° of varus-valgus rotation. Additionally, we determined that users should position the transducer over anatomical landmarks to obtain repeatable measurements. 5/6

.@MB_Blomquist has a ton of cool data for a paper he's working on. Apparently, I've grown quite fond of putting data into supplements... (Credit @MB_Blomquist for the meme)

Overall, we found that shear wave tensiometry should help surgeons reduce the risk of overly tight ligaments that are associated with poor outcomes (e.g., knee pain and stiffness). We are excited to continue developing shear wave tensiometry and expanding to more applications!

Similar to intact ligaments, we found that ligaments subjected to incremental releases demonstrated linear relationships between shear wave speed squared and tension. Additionally, we determined that we can predict tension to within 14.2 N (5.7% of the maximum load)!
