Another Successful Daleks’ Event Film is Fabulous! would like to thank everyone who attended the Daleks’ Master Plan event in Manchester yesterday. It was a wonderful evening, and Peter Purves was on great form.

@atruedrwhofan I actually knew a few people who worked on the UCLAN recon and I could have cried that that wasn’t me 😢 I’m hoping we can get evil of the Daleks back? As I feel that’ll be an underrated gem in live action, even if I adore the animation! Or Marco Polo, that’s a huge scale story

@atruedrwhofan Oh if it was available I’d have sat through all 13, including the UCLAN recon, have a panel in between each, even with the feast of Steven 😂 but that’s asking for the impossible? It would have been around 14 hours long at that point 😂😂

@MCFilms2018 It really felt like an event didn't it? I said to my friend we'd have sat through the entire thing if we could. Everyone, including the Daleks, felt on another level. The way the black Dalek stares down Chen. You can feel it really wants to kill him. Episode Three is just golden

@atruedrwhofan You can see Hartnell bouncing off of the cast here, really felt like an event rather than just a usual episode, there seems to be a definite energy from the story, the cast are on fire 🔥 Their back and forth was very funny to watch! Episode 3 just works REALLY well 🤩

@atruedrwhofan He said it was genuinely touching working with her again and that the new console was “too big” 😂 episode 3 might be my new favourite S3 hartnell performance ✌🏻 I think the bickering between WH and NC definitely set the wheels in motion for the Brig/Doctor in the future 😂

@MCFilms2018 Aw that's so sweet. He and Maureen work so well together. I'm so happy Tales reunited them. Episode Three is a gem isn't it? and yes it's so funny. I knew "What's wrong with Grandpa?" would get a laugh 😂 oh yes. Both this and Web Of Fear are Douglas and he was a gift to both.

@brian_damage @filmisfabulous (2) and as we know, there have been film cans found where they’ve just turned to liquid inside due to improper storage. It’s an incredibly delicate medium, and I’d rather they be recovered properly than not at all! I collect big finish cds, the amount I have still sealed is mad

@MCFilms2018 @filmisfabulous I see. I guess that explains they weren't returned sooner. (I'd say it's a strange hobby to collect old films and never watch them, but I've got a few DVDs and Blu-rays I've never watched!) Any indication how/where the collector acquired these missing episodes?

@brian_damage @filmisfabulous Unfortunately they had no recollection of how they acquired it at the time that FIF got in contact, which is a real shame but I’m just very thankful they did! I think the difficulty with film is the fragility of time. FIF stores film in temperature controlled environments (1/2)

@brian_damage @filmisfabulous (3) as explain in part one. A lot of collectors purchase in bulk to simply archive media, rather than chase specific titles. Think buying a large box of dvds at a car boot sale to be a physical media collector but not realising there’s an extremely rare dvd in the bottom

@MCFilms2018 @filmisfabulous I think for the point of view of locating more DW Missing Episodes, it would be incredibly useful to know (1) how the recently returned episodes ended up in that collection, (2) whether the owner knew he had them and (3) why weren't they returned whilst the owner was alive.

@brian_damage @filmisfabulous (2) as I explain, a lot of owners didn’t know what they had/have. Due to film canisters being mislabelled, the surviving film isn’t always correct. We held the film canister one of the episodes was found in, however it was labelled as another episode entirely.

@brian_damage @filmisfabulous So they did tough in that. (1) the owner at the end was very ill so didn’t actually remember and moved his entire apartment and belonging into his garage due to falling multiple times and having head injuries, hence why FIF didn’t act when he was alive: “wasn’t morally correct”

@atruedrwhofan Was a fantastic night! Asked Peter about filming Tales from the TARDIS, that was special to hear his thoughts and mention Maureen so fondly! I didn’t see them before tonight, didn’t know episode 3 was so funny, and Douglas Camfield was a GIFT to 60s WHO!

@brian_damage @filmisfabulous No problem! It’s fascinating to hear from them about the processes. They’re encouraging collectors to allow FIF! to archive, as many older film collectors die before setting them up, or even without knowing what they have, as they collect in bulk rather than chasing specific film

@brian_damage @filmisfabulous Currently cataloguing a recent collectors possessions of 16,000 tapes would take them 2 years to do, before restoration and delivery back to parent companies :) so it’s a timely process that they need to work on at a time best suited for all parties
