- The DC & Baltimore metro areas, and the Eastern Shore will experience poor air quality on Wednesday. Members of sensitive groups, children and adults with respiratory and heart ailments, may experience health effects and should limit time spent outside.

Skies across Maryland are hazy right now due to smoke from Canadian wildfires - That smoke, coupled with high temperatures, will yield poor air quality the rest of this week

DYK running your clothes dryer could add up to $200 to your utility bill annually? Take advantage of these warm, sunny days and hang your clothes to dry. If you can't have a clothesline in your yard consider investing in a drying rack to put on your porch or even use it indoors.

One easy way to reduce single use plastic in your daily life is to stop using plastic wrap. Put leftovers in a reusable container. Take it a step further and next time you head to your favorite resturant take your own food storage container to bring home your leftovers!

Maryland DNR
Maryland DNR@MarylandDNR·
This spring, the Maryland Department of Natural Resources launched a major new initiative to build resilience and protect communities on the Eastern Shore. The Roots for Resilience initiative is supported by $42.5 million in federal grant funding, which will empower a spate of projects focused on nature-based climate solutions. This work will help Maryland’s Eastern Shore adapt to the growing impacts of climate change in areas that are already seeing rising sea levels and eroding coastlines. These projects will include tree plantings, sustainable forest management, coastal wetland restoration, and living shorelines. DNR just announced seven grants totaling more than $4.5 million for living shoreline projects to protect large areas of healthy saltmarsh habitat. These efforts are funded through a larger Climate Pollution Reduction Grant from the U.S. @EPA, awarded to the Atlantic Conservation Coalition, made up of @nature_org and agencies in four coastal states. Maryland's effort is led by the @MDEnvironment, with DNR committing to large-scale wetland restoration, forestry work, and community engagement. To meet the DNR Roots for Resilience initiative's important goals, we are partnering with nonprofit and academic organizations, including @AudubonMidAtl and its Marshes for Tomorrow Plan, Lower Shore Land Trust, @ESLC_md, and the @UMCES. By investing in trees, marshes, and people, Roots for Resilience supports ongoing efforts to create a healthier, more resilient Eastern Shore.
