If you're a veteran, someone who is experiencing homelessness, a former foster youth, an adult aged 50–64, or an adult aged 18–64 who does not have a child under 14 living with them, you may now need to prove you are working, volunteering, or in job training for 80 hours a month.

Federal SNAP work rules from the "One Big Beautiful Bill" are now in effect.

Through these reforms, we will: ✅ Establish statewide standards to ensure that youth in foster care with complex needs receive one-on-one care. ✅ Expand opportunities for young people to get the help they need through increased licensed foster care capacity.

@MDHumanServices has seen a 33% increase in the portion of children in foster care living with family members and we’re proud at @BintiFamily to be part of the strategy. Maryland achieving these outcomes is the result of a series of coordinated efforts: ✨Releasing a 2024 state law that directs child welfare staff to prioritize kinship placements ✨Creating an alternative licensing pathway for kin caregivers that removes barriers to getting licensed and accessing resource support ✨Launching Binti Family Finding to enable their staff with the tools needed to find and manage potential kin caregivers This wasn’t just a policy update or a practice shift or a technology launch.
