Finland is the worst performing EU state. No gas. No oil. No tourists. Cities shrinking. Highest unemployment. And they want to threaten China? 😂 This is like a man on fire demanding you stop using water. China doesn't need an EU deal. The EU needs China. Finland is one vote. Germany, France, Italy will overrule them. Finland is shooting itself in both feet, then demanding China applaud. This is not diplomacy. This is a tantrum. Popcorn. 🍿🔥

🇫🇮🇨🇳🇷🇺 China has to leave Russia, or Finland will veto any EU-China free trade agreements. – Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen gives Beijing an ultimatum. Meanwhile, Finland today has fallen to the worst performing EU state, due to self imposed sanctions on Russia. - Shortages of oil and gas - Decline in Tourism (Russians making up the most) - Cities on the border with Russia shrinking away without spending visitors - Highest unemployment in the EU But yeah, let's now pick a fight with China.

Something troubling to see is how many Catholics will put adherence to “Free Market Economics” above Christ’s command to care for the poor. Christ doesn’t say “care for the poor, but only through private charity”, He says “care for the poor”.

🇺🇸🇨🇺 What a U.S. invasion of Cuba would actually look like... Cuba's military is 39,000 troops operating Soviet-era tanks, rusted artillery, and anti-aircraft systems that can't track modern stealth aircraft. The combat fleet is non-operational. The air defenses are outdated. Reinforced bunkers don't exist. Long-range missiles don't exist. Offensive drones don't exist. The country needs 100,000 barrels of oil a day to function. Russia's recent shipment of 730,000 barrels bought one week of relief against the U.S. oil blockade. The regime is held together by a structural suicide pact. A military-run conglomerate called GAESA controls 60% of Cuba's economy. The military guards the revolution. The civilian government shields the military. The business elite depends on the military running the economy. No faction can break away without collapsing the others. U.S. options on the table range from tightening the blockade to surgical decapitation strikes, all-out air and sea campaigns, or a full ground invasion with tens of thousands of troops. A ground invasion would likely produce dozens to hundreds of American casualties due to asymmetric resistance. The political succession plan is already being tested. Raul Castro's grandson, "Raulito," offered economic agreements to the Trump administration in April. Washington sees him as the potential bridge to a post-Castro Cuba. The island regime has refused every deal for 65 years. It may not get the chance to refuse another.

🇨🇺 🇺🇸 Cuba just publicly confirmed it's in direct talks with the United States... President Miguel Diaz-Canel broke the silence: Cuban officials have "in fact recently held conversations with representatives of the government of the United States" to seek a solution to bilateral differences. He invoked the Obama-Castro precedent directly, referencing the only other modern moment Cuba opened this door. This follows the secret U.S. delegation that landed in Havana days ago. Starlink on the table. Political prisoner releases demanded. Compensation for seized American property. And a blunt warning that the island's economy is in free fall. Cuba refused this deal for 65 years. Now the regime is publicly acknowledging the conversation. Media: @nextnews

China’s population is collapsing. Just about everything else in the country will as well.
UnveiledChina@Unveiled_ChinaX

This chart from the Financial Times tells you more about China's future than any GDP forecast. The top chart shows working-age populations (ages 20-69) for China, the US, and India from 1950 to 2100. China's line peaks around 2015 at roughly 1 billion and then drops off a cliff. By 2100 it converges near the US line, around 200 million workers. The US barely moves. India keeps climbing well past where China peaked. The bottom chart is arguably more alarming. It shows the share of population in the key productive age range of 15 to 64. China's line is already falling faster than Japan, Europe, and the US, and by 2100 it is projected to drop to roughly 40%, the lowest of any major economy shown. Here is what those lines actually mean in real numbers. China's total fertility rate has collapsed to approximately 1.0, half the 2.1 needed to sustain a population. UN projections put China's total population at 633 to 782 million by 2100, down from 1.4 billion today. The working-age population specifically is projected to fall to just 210 million by 2100, one fifth of its 2014 peak. By that point, every 100 working-age Chinese will need to support 137 elderly people, up from 21 today. In 2024, people over 60 already exceeded 310 million for the first time in Chinese history. Japan, Europe, and the US are all aging. But none of them are aging at this speed, from this starting point, with this fertility rate, and with this little immigration. The CCP spent decades engineering a one-child policy to slow population growth. It is now spending billions trying to reverse a demographic collapse it created. So far, the money has not moved the needle. China does not just face an economic challenge. It faces a structural contraction of the human capital that every economy runs on. #China #Demographics #Population #Economy #CCP #Geopolitics #GlobalEconomy #India

@SebastianCaliri @cdrsalamander Put every major illness out to bid in a daily auction, creating a market. Assign each patient a health care buyer, beholden only to the patient, for that illness Give the patient the ability to pay the difference to bidders that may be higher. Costs would collapse.

Single-payer is not some untested theory. We have plenty of data from Canada. It is a great solution if you want to wait 28.6 weeks (~6.6 months) for an MRI or knee replacement. Pretending there is no trade off between cost control and timely access to care is unserious. Single payer can bound costs, but we cannot somehow spend less and receive the same thing in return.

We need single-payer health care. I've looked at the numbers, and there's no other way to bring costs down.
