I'm immensely grateful to @Vijuananthan & @KMirza (both formerly @loyolapathology) & Dr. Tamara Kalir @MountSinai_Path for giving me- a random, unknown person with no background in the US- a chance to do observership/elective with them. That year (2019), I sent ~100 customized email requests for observerships. I don't count that as a struggle, it is a process. But why does the process have to be so hard, more so for DO Medical Students, IMGs, & students from smaller schools with no pathology programs internally? Help the @Pathologists #ResidentsForum help medical students by making a centralized resource for electives and observerships. So universities make research professors pay for their entire salary & research through grant funding, but then the university also takes a cut of your grant funding? Seems like you’d have to always apply for grants, so when do you do research? Is this why you’re all kinda grumpy
