A Major Step 📈 With us since 2005, Tyler Stevenson has officially been named the Maine State Police's third Major, covering the Support Services division. Major Stevenson was hired with the 54th Recruit Training Troop, being assigned to Troop B, and was selected as Detective in 2014. In 2016, he was promoted to Sergeant in Troop B, before transferring to Troop H in 2018. In 2021 he was promoted to Lieutenant of the MIAC, Weapons and Licensing Unit, and the Executive Protection Unit. In 2023, he transferred to Special Services, overseeing most of the MSP specialty teams. We're not done! Major Stevenson was also a K9 handler from 2007-2012, selected as K9 Handler of the Year in 2009, was a Tactical Team member from 2010-2020, and commanded the team from 2017-2020. His awards include the Meritorious Service Award (2011), the Bravery Award (2020), and the Troop B Trooper of the Year (2014). What a career! Congrats on the well-deserved promotion, Major! 🥳🎖

There was a bomb scare at the Maine Capitol this morning which was investigated and determined to be a hoax. The State House is back to normal operations.

Expect road closures today starting around 12 noon on State Street and Capitol Street in the immediate area of the Capitol for a permitted demonstration march.
