Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, on Wednesday, March 25, 2026 attended the North Central Zonal Convention of the All Progressives Congress (APC) held at the Nasarawa State Government House Lafia where President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was unanimously adopted as the party’s sole candidate for the 2027 presidential election. Governor Alia attended the high-level gathering alongside his counterparts from Nasarawa State, Niger State, Kogi State, Kwara State, and Plateau State, all of whom are members of the ruling All Progressives Congress APC. Governor Alia addressing newsmen commended the peaceful conduct of the convention and described the adoption of President Tinubu as a clear vote of confidence in his administration’s policies and reform agenda. He noted that the North Central region remains steadfast in its commitment to the continued progress and unity of Nigeria. The convention, which brought together party leaders, governors, and delegates from across the North Central geopolitical zone, also witnessed the affirmation of Benue State representatives into key zonal leadership positions. Mr. Success Ajoma was unanimously affirmed as the APC North Central Zonal Publicity Secretary, while Mr. David Aondofa was endorsed as the Leader of People with Special Needs for the North Central zone, both representing Benue State in the zonal leadership of the Party. The Governor also congratulated Success Ajoma and David Aondofa on their affirmation, expressing optimism that their emergence would further strengthen Benue State’s contribution and representation within the APC’s regional leadership structure. The convention further reviewed party structures across the zone and adopted resolutions aimed at strengthening grassroots mobilization and consolidating internal cohesion ahead of the 2027 general elections. The adoption of President Tinubu as sole candidate, alongside the emergence of new zonal officers, marked a significant outcome of the convention and reinforced the strategic role of the North Central zone in the future electoral plans of the All Progressives Congress APC.

Unity, Prayers Key to Benue’s Peace and Growth — Gov. Alia Thursday, March 19, 2026 Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia has reaffirmed the centrality of unity, collective responsibility and sustained prayers to the attainment of peace and socio-economic development in Benue State. The Governor stated this yesterday while hosting Muslim faithful to an Iftar (breaking of fast) at the New Banquet Hall of Government House, Makurdi, where he described the occasion as both spiritually significant and symbolically unifying. Reflecting on the rare convergence of the holy seasons of Ramadan and Lent, Governor Alia noted that such alignment presents a profound opportunity for deeper interfaith harmony and supplication. “This rare convergence of Ramadan and Lent is a divine invitation for us to unite in prayers for our state and our nation,” he stated. Addressing the prevailing security challenges, the Governor acknowledged the difficulties inherited by his administration but maintained that his government remains resolute and proactive in confronting banditry and criminality across the state. “While insecurity remains a concern, we are resilient in our commitment to confronting it decisively. With sustained efforts and the grace of God, we shall overcome. "This monster called insecurity, we have started cutting the head and it must die", he affirmed. He lauded the federal government for its support in the fight against banditry in the State, and called on citizens to demonstrate vigilance and civic responsibility by supporting security agencies with credible and timely information, assuring that his administration would continue to deploy strategic measures to safeguard lives and property across all local government areas. Reiterating his administration’s vision for economic transformation, Governor Alia emphasized that unity and cooperation among stakeholders are indispensable to repositioning Benue as a competitive investment destination. He said, "You must not like my head, you mustn't like my nose. That is less important. You don't need to like me. But think Benue, love Benue and join hands to make Benue great again. "I invite all people of good conscience to join hands with me so that we can make Benue a place that attracts everybody". He urged citizens to embrace values of love, mutual respect and shared purpose, noting that the collective aspirations of the people far outweigh any divisive tendencies.
