The fix? More skill work. More freedom. More reps in live reads. Less micromanaging. Less obsession with winning weekend games. Let them dribble, make mistakes, play through contact, figure it out. That’s how hoopers are made.

First foray into girls’ hoops at the younger levels: Lots of scheming; doubles, face guards, junk D’s. Not seeing enough players who can dribble, pass, shoot, read. The talent is there. Now it’s on us as coaches to build the skill, feel, and freedom to let them shine.

This is a massive story with implications that extend far beyond the little bible college in BC that is punching far beyond its weight angle. Way to go, Bearcats. Proud of you and Coach Claggett for not caving. You are all fighters just like Taylor was as a high school athlete.

Congrats to the @cbcBearcats WBB for making it to the @CCAAsportACSC national final after a win today. Elissa Vreugdenhil had 18 points and 14 rebounds to lead the team. CBC now takes on the St. Mary’s Lightning in the championship game on Saturday.
