Today we received a generous donation of $19,250 from the Maine Masonic Charitable Foundation dedicated to assisting homeless veterans in Maine. We are very fortunate and thankful for their support!

Our Homeless Veterans Coordination team at the Maine Bureau of Veterans' Services is working everyday to assist Maine's homeless veterans and those who are at risk of becoming homeless. For information visit our website at maine.gov/veterans .

Wednesday, Sept. 20 from 10 am to 2 pm MBVS & partnering organizations are hosting a Homeless Veterans’ Stand Down at Veterans Park located at 2-20 Main St, Lewiston. This is a great resource for any veterans who are currently homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.

Today we held our summer gathering as our offices & cemeteries from across the state joined together in Augusta. A productive day filled with presentations, trainings, & team building activities as we continuously work to improve our ability to assist vets & their families.

Today we were pleased to welcome Secretary of the @DeptVetAffairs, Denis McDonough as he begins his two day visit to Maine. The Secretary began his visit by joining us at the PACT Act Awareness event held at the new VA Clinic in Rumford.

Today we pay tribute to the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. Let us honor their memory by cherishing the freedoms they fought to preserve. Our offices are closed today and will reopen tomorrow, Tuesday, May 30th at 7:30 a.m.

Memorial Day ceremonies at our Maine Veterans' Memorial Cemetery System this Monday, May 29th.

Today is Silver Star Banner Day, a day to honor and remember the sacrifices of our wounded and ill military service members, as well as their families. We thank these brave men and women for their selflessness and dedication to our country.

The Maine Bureau of Veterans' Services co-hosted its second mobile dental clinic for veterans in Washington County with partners Mainely Teeth today. Many thanks to Commander Brian Smith and the gang at the American Legion Post #9 in Machias for their hospitality.

Today on Gold Star Spouses Day, let us take a moment to honor and recognize the incredible sacrifices made by the spouses of fallen service members. These brave men and women have lost their partners and their best friends to the ultimate sacrifice of defending our nation.

Today as part of National Vietnam War Veterans Day, we were proud to host a ceremony of tribute, remembrance, reflection, and appreciation at the State House in the Hall of Flags to honor the service of Vietnam Veterans.
