मुजफ्फरपुर ने बीते एक दशक में शहरी विस्तार और औद्योगिक विकास, दोनों मोर्चों पर उल्लेखनीय प्रगति दर्ज की है। 2016 की तुलना में 2026 में शहर में मकानों की संख्या लगभग दोगुनी हो गई है। सबसे तेज़ विकास मिठनपुरा के वार्ड 36, 37 और 48 में हुआ, जहां करीब 8,000 नए मकानों का निर्माण हुआ। वर्तमान में पूरे शहर में 56 हजार से अधिक मकान हैं। वहीं, बेला औद्योगिक क्षेत्र (फेज-1 एवं 2) लगभग 16 वर्ग किमी में फैला है, जहां 431 औद्योगिक इकाइयाँ संचालित हैं। यहां प्रतिवर्ष ₹150 करोड़ से अधिक का कारोबार होता है और लगभग 1.5 लाख श्रमिकों को रोजगार मिलता है। बैग क्लस्टर के लिए राष्ट्रीय पहचान बना चुका यह क्षेत्र अब टेक्सटाइल हब बनने की दिशा में भी आगे बढ़ रहा है। मुजफ्फरपुर का यह विकास बिहार की औद्योगिक और शहरी प्रगति की नई तस्वीर पेश कर रहा है।

"Bihar Urban Development Bill, 2026 passed in Assembly today - A Major Breakthrough for Urbanisation in Bihar with creation of BUDA" 👉Bihar government has taken a major step towards planned urban expansion by establishing "Bihar Urban Development Authority (BUDA)" for developing greenfield satellite townships & new urban areas across Bihar. 👉BUDA will become the central agency for major decisions related to urban development projects and work as a statutory body responsible for planning, developing, monitoring and expanding urban infrastructure. 👉BUDA will identify areas suitable for future expansion and prepare detailed development plans for these locations. It will focus on creating well-planned urban centres equipped with modern facilities and sustainable infrastructure. 👉BUDA will be responsible for developing and maintaining key urban facilities, including Roads, transportation water supply, sewerage, SWM, etc. 👉Financial Powers to Support Large-Scale Urban Projects: BUDA will have multiple financial resources. Funds can be raised through Government grants, Budgetary assistance, Bonds, Debentures, Other approved financial sources. BUDA can also collect various fees, charges, cess and other applicable payments to support urban development activities. 👉Bihar Urban Development Fund to Be Created: The fund will be managed by BUDA and will be used to support infrastructure development & implementation of urban projects. 👉The major functions of BUDA will include Identifying special development areas, Preparing urban development plans, Building roads, water supply, sewerage and drainage systems, Expanding electricity and digital infrastructure, Establishing schools, hospitals and other public services, etc. 👉Chief Secretary, Bihar will be Chairman of BUDA. 👉Government Vision : The formation of BUDA is aimed at creating a structured framework for future city development in the state. Through planned satellite townships, improved infrastructure and coordinated decision-making, the government expects to promote economic growth, attract private investment and create employment opportunities.
