@BENZOTOOIE ‘Sex and the City’ nailed its final season. The first movie was good. The second was… well, at least it didn’t ruin the series. But the follow up series ‘And Just Like That’ woof. It completely destroyed the show’s legacy.

When was the last time a popular show had a good final season and a satisfying finale because I genuinely can’t remember.

@TheCinesthetic The Walking Dead is the living, breathing (yes, pun intended) example of ‘Less is more’ You could take the very best of the series—what was it? 15 seasons?—and condense it to 5 or 6 seasons and it would have been among the greatest shows of all time.

The Walking Dead went on so long that staying emotionally invested eventually became difficult. Early seasons felt tense and character-driven, but after years of repetitive cycles, a lot of viewers started watching more out of commitment than excitement.

@TheCinesthetic Alec Guinness’ Obi-One gave Star Wars the gravitas that elevated it from some goofy space opera with young, mediocre (at best) actors to a timeless story with true heart.

Alec Guinness once described Star Wars (1977) as “fairytale rubbish.” In his autobiography, Guinness recalled meeting a fan who had seen the film more than 100 times & only agreed to sign an autograph after making the fan promise never to watch it again.

I feel sorry for the world that Madonna’s “Get Together” single wasn’t Number One globally. Poor souls.

@nostalgic__pop Wow. Loved both of them. Each album had the best song of their respective careers. ‘We Belong Together’ hit the stride. Sadly, Warner Bros (or Madonna) didn’t realize that ‘Get Together’ was the amazing gold that is was. Underdog—‘Get Together’—is the best.

@For_Film_Fans Kind of amazing what a stellar soundtrack can do for a movie.

I’ll be honest with you, I’ve never understood why this was nom’d for 11 and won 3 Academy Awards. It’s not that it’s awful, at all — it’s just that it’s not that level (for me). CHARIOTS OF FIRE (1981) Anyway, it was released 45yrs ago today.

I have watched OVERBOARD countless times. Every generation in my family loved it. It is eminently rewatchable. The great Garry Marshall had a phenomenal run of romantic comedies, and this remains my favorite. There is some suspension of disbelief required, as even as a high schooler, I saw this scene and thought, "That ain't right." No matter how awful she is! But the film is so good-natured, the chemistry and comic timing is perfection, and an early script by yet another great, Leslie Dixon, is superb. How it gets us rooting for them and screaming, "Oh no!" when her husband shows up is an absolute magic trick. It is because I loved movies like this just so much that I never wanted to focus on one genre. Kurt Russell made USED CARS and ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK back-to-back, so I wasn't surprised by his range at the time. But as I get older, I am more and more amazed by it. What a gift he and Goldie Hawn are in this film. I love this movie.

@storyandplot Never understood why ‘Overboard’ with Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell wasn’t a massive hit (although it’s found fans long after other romcom “hits” have been forgotten). It’s charming, funny and one of the sweetest love stories ever put on film.

@bestofGOT___ Jon Snow was an annoying whiner seasons 1-5. Season 6 he became tolerable. Season 7 he became annoying again. Season 8 he was a combination annoying and tolerable.
