As a university professor, I rarely hear from students after the final exam. However, there are always a handful of students who will send personal notes or emails after the semester is over. These mean more to me than you could possibly imagine. Students, if you enjoy the class, let the teacher know. They truly love hearing it.

@annastansbury @RossMckenzie11 @HugoGye So I would not expect the 4.5g threshold to create much revenue. Some additional revenue will come from inflation-linkage of rates for brands that have not reformulated (Coke, Monster, Red Bull).

@annastansbury @RossMckenzie11 Just to note, many big brands already sit below the new 4.5g threshold in order to comply with high fat, salt, and sugar (HFSS) regulation that limits promotions/advertising for soft drinks with higher sugar content. @HugoGye

I’ve started an ongoing project to collect all the datasets which economists can use, all in one place, organized by topic. Started with 50, further suggestions are extremely welcome. It will grow considerably.

"Does this effectively reduce reoffending, or could resources be better spent? We don’t really know. I will take a hard look at the data to provide an answer." Dr Markus Gehrsitz explores if offender supervision and license conditions reduce reoffending. adruk.org/news-publicati…

To spell out what means: In 1997, graduates in the UK earned almost 50% more per hour than non-graduates. Today, that’s down to a bit less than 40% more. Having a degree brings back smaller rewards in the job market than it used to.

NEW: we need to talk about UK graduate wages, and the idea that Britain sends too many people to university. American readers should stick around for the UK/US comparisons 👀 Let’s start with this: the UK graduate wage premium has fallen substantially over the last 25 years
