Today’s financial system is not constrained by a lack of liquidity, but by the cost of coordination. In correspondent banking alone, an estimated ~$10 trillion in capital is pre-funded across institutions at any moment, not for investment purposes, but to compensate for settlement delays, fragmented trust, and inconsistent reconciliation between systems that were never designed to operate globally in real time. This is the structural inefficiency that makes finance slower than the networks it depends on. @zksync approaches this constraint through Prividium. Prividium is a permissioned Validium built with the ZK Stack, designed specifically for institutional requirements: -Transactions execute inside institution-controlled environments -Sensitive data remains offchain within regulated systems -Zero-knowledge proofs validate correctness cryptographically- -Only proofs and state commitments are published to Ethereum for settlement This creates a rare combination in financial infrastructure: private execution with public verifiability, without exposing transactional data or fragmenting liquidity. The real signal is already observable in who is building: • Cari Network connects 5 U.S. regional banks with over $600B in combined deposits, founded by Eugene Ludwig, former 27th U.S. Comptroller of the Currency • Deutsche Bank operates through Memento ZK Chain • First Abu Dhabi Bank participates via ADI Chain • BitGo integrates institutional custody into ZK-based systems • 35+ institutions are actively evaluating deployment These are not exploratory blockchain pilots in isolation. They are regulated financial actors testing shared settlement infrastructure. The system effect is where the shift becomes structural: Financial networks do not scale linearly,they compound. Each new institution increases the number of potential settlement relationships across the system. n participants create n(n−1)/2 possible connections. This is the same underlying mechanism that allowed SWIFT to evolve from a limited interbank messaging system into a global standard, and Visa to expand into a universal payment network: connectivity grows faster than participants. ZKsync applies this same principle, but at the settlement layer, where trust is replaced by cryptographic verification. Within this architecture, $ZK has a defined network role: • Native asset of the ZKsync network with a fixed supply of 21B • Governance asset controlling protocol upgrades, parameters, and network rules through a three-body structure: Token Assembly, Security Council, Guardians • Native gas token for ZKsync Gateway, which aggregates transactions from ZK chains and Prividium environments before final settlement on Ethereum L1 Protocol and fee-related mechanisms are governed through existing ZKsync governance processes and community-defined proposals. The significance is not narrative,it is structural alignment. Prividium provides the execution environment institutions require.
