You know what's diabolical about some professional organizations and infrastructures in the USA, they will bang on about the importance of mental health but as soon someone they once liked begin to say or do things they do not appreciate; they will attempt to discredit said person and will reference they are having mental health challenges.

I did a group training recently on Stress management and I included the Word of God as a go to source to address anxiety and depressive symptoms. That triggered some participants. During the debriefing process as we talked openly about the training experience, someone said he goes to church regularly and then he proceeded to say God is a God of love and the message of telling people that God punishes people for their sin is not right (the conversation veered off by the way. He continued and I quote "Just like when God sent Jonah and wiped out all those people in Nineveh." 😳

A large issue in the professed church in my opinion is biblical illiteracy.

I never asked a single soul to believe Ellen G. White was a prophet and I do not care what a single soul has to say about her. Jeremiah was rejected, mocked, beaten, imprisoned, and he was called a liar. So were Amos, Isaiah, and Ezekiel. Jesus was the greatest Prophet of all, and He was rejected by His own. Rejection by people has never been the test of a prophet. The test is whether they speak according to God’s Word. I believe she met the biblical standard for a prophet. You are free to believe what you wish, but I make no apology for what I believe. I believe Ellen G. White was a prophet.

Christians should not swear and use foul language. It is sin. The Bible could not be any clearer.

Keep sharing your testimony. That is what the other folks stand to benefit from who are currently in a dire situation. I often say this and receive push back from it but I've yet to experience differently. Most people do not care. They feel concern. Those are two different things. To care requires effort, a robust plan to intervene, maintain the situation/person and to provide after care. To be concerned will spark feelings of compassion but when the person senses how much work will go into caring; he or she will realize the bandwidth to provide said care and they will likely decline to engage. People who care can inspire folks to embrace change and to accept recovery.

I really appreciate this perspective, especially from someone who worked directly in the field. I’ve seen the same thing personally — housing alone didn’t stop my addiction. What finally changed my life was when treatment, accountability, structure, medical support, and stable housing all started working together instead of separately.

@thepeacepoet99 I remember it vividly. Went with my cousin who lived in Brooklyn at the time. We also saw some of wildest acts on the subway. Back then phones couldn't take photos because the space was like 100 MB tops I think. Different times.
