A malacological taxonomic rabbit hole has lead me to some of the bitchiest 19th Century scientific literature, including some well known figures today, desperate to keep their names attached to taxa, to prevent acceptance of French taxonomist's work and to bury "rivals".

@m1ke_ellis @ring Even if one had a use for one, Ring the company has been guilty of really shoddy data security practices, leading to the cameras being exposed to the public. Maybe not so bad for door cameras, but disastrous for internal cameras. I'm amazed they're doubling down on the ads.

Update on my correspondence with a Conservative MP today. He has concluded it with a message which says (my words) "you're wrong, I'm right. Arguing for professionally-run public services is sooo 1997. Pax. No returns". Honestly, you can't get the public servants these days

@NickPoole1 My television broke late last year, and I haven't felt the need to replace it. The BBC news and current affairs section is sadly fallen from what it once was. #bbcqt is a large part of that, unfortunately.

Watching #bbcqt is increasingly like holding my hand over a lit candle - painful, unpleasant and I can't do it for very long

Today we are pleased to confirm that the in the latest Honours announcement, Metropolitan Police Commissioner Cressida Dick has been nominated to become a Dame. The Commissioner joined @metpoliceuk in 1983 and was appointed as the UK's most senior police officer in April 2017.
