@DT2ComicsChat I love Barry! He's great. I just wish that his return hadn't so egregiously sidelined Wally as the primary Flash...

@IMAO_ They should have looked more, in my opinion, like Luke in "Return of the Jedi." Outer robes are fine (Yoda wears them in "Empire"), but the tighter, all-black attire would be better in combat.

@Darren_Mooney Yeah, I mean, as an American who isn't at all enamored by Trump, I certainly know it's there. But also, it's so richly Kingpin that, frankly, the subtext is easy to ignore—especially at a time when every political critique on film is about Trump.

Not necessarily the greatest proof that media literacy is dead, but still a chilling reminder of how bad the situation is, astounded by how many “wHaT dO yOu MeAn FiSk-As-MaYoR iS a TrUmP aLlEgOrY?” replies I’ve gotten in the past twenty-four hours.

@WWUTTcom There are enough alien encounter accounts out there that make me believe most are inherently demonic. That said, Lewis' "Ransom Trilogy" really lays out a cosmology where I could see God populating other worlds. So, I'm more open to the idea than I once was.

Do you think this supposed "disclosure" coming from the government is going to reveal we're being visited by aliens?

@Darren_Mooney I mean, in the case of "Wake Up Dead Man" and "Daredevil," grace—especially for the worst of the worst—is the literal foundation of Christianity. There is no Christianity at all without grace, so that's pretty baked in. "The Grand Design" highlighted that perfectly this season.

Now that the season finale of "Daredevil: Born Again" is out, can I just say that between "Wake Up Dead Man", "Hoppers" and "Born Again", it is fascinating how so much Second Trump Era pop culture is about how the evil people who have killed and want to kill you deserve "grace."

@DT2ComicsChat They Clayface and Nocturna episodes were great. Otherwise, it was pretty hit-or-miss. Mostly miss.

@DT2ComicsChat I think the explanation used in various comics and games (if I remember correctly) is that Skynet sent the T-800 and T-1000 at the same time, the Resistance discovered the T-800 first and sent Kyle (w/ the promise of destroying the TDE), then sent the "T2" T-800 after the T-1000.

#Movies📽️ Terminator 2: Judgement Day is another one of those films that's just almost flawless. It's a technical marvel, with incredible tension, stakes, special FX, memorable characters and lines, and signature theme music. It's only real flaws lie in how it has to violate all the rules it established in the first movie to make its story work. •"Skynet sent two Terminators back through time" Yeah no, can't have that. Not after "they blew the whole place" and "Nobody goes home. Nobody else comes through. It's just him...and me."~Kyle Reese •Once again, when you use Time Travel as a plot device, it has to have built in limits or the story falls apart. Once you have Time Travel at will, you shouldn't lose because you have as many chances as you need to succeed. •Exactly at what point does John capture and reprogram the T-800? That had to have been done away from Kyle, because Kyle thought he was the only soldier they sent. •"Nothing dead will go." We've always struggled with how the T-1000 then comes through time because his skin is metal, he's not covered in flesh like the T-800s. •The biggest one of all: Terminator Time Travel is built on the Elliptical model. Meaning it's all the same timeline, and changes in the past affect the future and vice versa. There's no need for Skynet to send the first T-800 back if they didn't think that would erase John from *their* present. Same with John and Kyle if that's the only way to cause John's conception. •You also can't have the first Terminator's chip and hand be the thing that inspires Dyson's work with any other model than Elliptical because again...that's the same reality. •Which leads to the Big Kahuna: they mixed Elliptical with Multi-Branch at the end BECAUSE..... if they had truly stopped Judgement Day and changed the future, John Connor would disappear.

@DT2ComicsChat To be fair, that idea really did work in "True Grit." It just doesn't work for Supergirl (nor is that the type of character I'd want my Supergirl-loving daughters to emulate.)

We *have* seen it before. True Grit. And this is reversing the normal trope of Bad Girl Gone Good (Black Widow, Elektra, Raven) into Good Girl Gone Bad. "Messy" and "imperfect" I think the words were. And "doesn't want to be a hero until the end." ....How'd that work out for Mary Marvel?🤨 You think that's the message families will want to send their young daughters?

Peter Safran on Superhero movies and Supergirl: “I never felt that there was superhero fatigue. I felt it was mediocre movie fatigue…You gotta try something new. You have to change the game a little bit. The essential story on which Supergirl is based is something cool and original and we haven’t seen before.” (Via @IGN )

Actually, a single "Ocean's Eleven"-like Rogues movie would be the perfect way to bring The Flash into the DCU after his decade-long TV run and the 2023 movie. Nix the Gunn tone and made the movie literally in that "Ocean's" style, and it's the most inspired DC movie in years.
Protobert@protobertx

@millicay95 I grew up saying it "Raz" despite the animated series, but then started saying it "Raish" as I got older. Now, I say it however the medium I'm watching says it — with comics, I still say "Raz." But now I'm rethinking that entirely. "Rawsh" sounds awesome.

Decades of Batman discourse about if Ra's Al Ghul is pronounced "Raz" or "Raish". Only for Dennis O'Neil, the man who literally created Ra's, finding a completely new way of pronouncing it and confusing the fanbase even further in a 30-year-old interview:

@DT2ComicsChat Did you ever give "Green Lantern: The Animated Series" a try? It's probably the best thing that came out of the 2011 movie, and it's great.

#Fandom🤓 I really, really, REALLY hate the damage that this one stupid Ryan Reynolds movie did to Hal Jordan. It took the greatest #GreenLantern of all time, and made the studios so gun shy to feature him, until we've never gotten Hal in his prime (think Luke at the end of Mando S2). There are so many great stories, even going back to the Silver Age, that feature Hal. Along with his teamups with Ollie and Barry. Now, that's not to take away anything from John; not at all. But you don't have to diminish one generation's Lantern just to exalt another. 👊✳️
