I can’t for the life of me figure out why youth baseball (Little league age, travel ball, high school) is one of the only arenas where people with absolutely no experience have the strongest opinions. Stay with me here. Like adults that know for a fact they never played baseball ever stand at sporting events criticizing coaches or kids for making mistakes while also knowing virtually nothing about the subject matter. It’s the most ignorant, lacking any self awareness things in society. Do you also walk in the kitchen during dinner service and question the executive chef or ask the roofing professionals if they’re replacing your shingles correctly knowing you have no idea what you’re talking about it’s such an insane concept to me. Yelling at children knowing you trip over your own feet mowing your lawn. just be positive and encourage the kids, thank the coaches for doing the job you can’t even come close to doing. Stop embarrassing yourself and your kids.

@LearnToToad 2. Dad's aren't out with the kids teaching and putting time in. Mom is buying all the flare and telling them how great they are with no real experience. So when the time comes, coach is trying to teach them and they're the bad guy. Resulting in kids not playing anymore.

@LearnToToad 2 reasons come to mind. 1. Trying to find a game on TV is impossible. You need several paid apps to watch. If the parents dont have them, those kids aren't growing up watching it. Thats a big amount of kids growing up without it being easily available.

Yeah each team has a schedule that cost about 10k and I wrote a check for 6k for uniforms yesterday and the rent of this facility the kids get to use whenever they want is over 10k a month so yes, it all costs money josey. 15/15 high school seniors in our program are going to play in college next year at an average tuition savings of 20k per year so their ROI on their travel baseball investment is pretty favorable vs our local competitors that charge more and provide less. Hope that helps.

If you don’t think the travel program your kid plays for matters, we have a new player this year that has played zero games for us ever that has two college campus visits set up for next week based on relationships and trust. The people selling you smoke and mirrors at 12 years old are asking you to waste your money.

There is such a lack of sportsmanship in HS baseball. Each year it gets worse. Each year it’s an apparent point of emphasis. I’ve already witnessed the F word being chanted and kid’s barking at coaches with coaches just sitting there not saying anything. When will the adults be adults and the officials actually step up and enforce anything?

Truth is, probably have a failing marriage, substance abuse issues and are basically child abusers. Running these kids like theyre in the Marines. And we wonder why its a dying sport.

Apparently, Nats coaches are now using tennis rackets instead of fungos to hit fly balls to their outfielders. This is really the point in baseball, where you’ve gotta sit there and go holy crap. We need more baseball people and less nerds teaching this game.
