At the @OPCW Executive Council meeting, Estonia highlighted Russia’s systematic violations of the Chemical Weapons Convention. Russia has used chemicals as a method of warfare in its aggression against Ukraine and has deployed toxins in targeted killings. We call on Russia to fully comply with international law and cooperate fully with the OPCW.

Today, the Estonian Police and Border Guard detected an illegal crossing of a temporary control line between Estonia and Russia on the Narva River breakwater by three border guards of the Russian Federation. The Estonian border guard patrols responded to the border incident. After a short time the Russian border guards returned to Russian territory. Estonia will request an explanation at a meeting of border representatives tomorrow, and the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs will summon the Chargé d’Affaires of the Russian Embassy in Estonia.

What do we actually know about the secret US–Russia talks on Ukraine and Europe? Beyond what Axios and Politico reported: almost nothing. Should we be worried? YES. Here’s why 👇 1️⃣ Secret US–Russia contacts (Witkoff–Dmitriev) cannot produce a JUST PEACE. The only outcome would be Ukraine’s partial or total capitulation — unacceptable for Kyiv. 2️⃣ Talks about Europe’s and Ukraine’s future WITHOUT them are a dead end. Estonia and its partners cannot accept capitulation to Russian aggression. 3️⃣ You don’t get peace by negotiating with war criminals. Either Putin is wanted for war crimes — or the West abandons its credibility. 4️⃣ Accepting Russia’s territorial gains endangers all of Europe. “Temporary concessions” only reward aggression. 5️⃣ Who pays for the destruction? Russia’s war has already caused >€500bn in damage. 6️⃣ Kyiv’s corruption scandal won’t force Zelensky into surrender. Neither civil society nor the army would allow it. 7️⃣ Giving in to an aggressor = surrendering to violence. A just peace is only possible after Russia is brought to strategic defeat. 8️⃣ Instead of secret talks, the West should give Ukraine everything it needs to win — incl. a coalition ready to protect western Ukrainian airspace. 9️⃣ Europe’s future depends on Europe.
