As a northerner, you’re free to come under my post and criticize my takes, but the minute you insult me, you’ll never get to interact with my post again. Southerners are the only ones allowed to insult me, and I wouldn’t block them.

Hausas Have Traditionally Been Hunters For Centuries I lived in Sokoto and Kebbi. The claim circulating on social media that Hausas and other Northerners do not hunt is false. It is borne out of ignorance. Fulbe people, also known as Fula or Fulani, generally do not hunt. However, Hausas and many other Northern ethnicities hunt, and they hunt more than Southerners. Because of their skill at hunting, they were employed in large numbers as houseguards in Southern Nigeria. When you see a mai guard with a bow and arrow, that is what he and his ancestors employed to hunt game in the past and till today. In Kebbi, they used to hunt and bring game for my late father, Justice Jean Omokri. Pius Utomi, a photographer from Okpanam, Delta State, took this photo almost a decade ago. These fellows are local Hausa hunters. Look at their guns. Is it not similar to that of the Uromi sixteen? Before Independence, the British found Hausas helpful for their colonial police force due to their hunting and warrior skills. That is why the first police force in Nigeria was the Hausa Constabulary, formed in 1879 with 1200 Hausas. The Hausa Constabulary evolved into the Royal West African Frontier Force and then the Queen's Own Nigeria Regiment, which eventually became the Nigerian Army. There is nothing like Hausa-Fulani. That is a coinage of the Lagos-Ibadan media. You are either Hausa or Fulani. Now, many of the bandits who abduct, kidnap, kill and maim are not even Nigerians. They are rarely ever of Hausa origin. Some may be foreign Fulani. However, many are former members of Muammar Gaddafi's mercenary army, with a lot of them being of Malian origin. The reason that insecurity spiked in Nigeria in 2011 is because after Gaddafi was killed on Jumu'ah, October 20, 2011, his Black mercenary army fled Libya Southward. Today, they are disturbing the peace of West African countries, not just Nigeria. Sadly, the same President Obama who caused this did not lift a finger to help us in West Africa. We are still suffering the consequences of his disastrous foreign policy in Libya. In conclusion, there are over 250 ethnic nationalities in Northern Nigeria. Not every Northerner is a Hausa or Fulani. Please stop lynching and mobbing people out of ignorance. Reno Omokri Gospel let. Deep Thinker. #TableShaker. I am a journalist like you, Rufai. I love our profession deeply, and it is the reason I have always respected you. I rarely comment on your takes or criticize you, even when I disagree with you. That is how much regard I have for your work. So please, don’t make me regret the respect I have had for you. Now, I must tell you again that your response to the Uromi massacre/barbarism was extremely disappointing. It would have been more honorable to accept that your take was biased and out of hatred rather than doubling down which just exposed your lack of empathy and objectivity. Since the day that barbaric act happened, I have made it clear that my outrage has nothing to do with the fact that the victims were from the North. I don’t even call them “Northern hunters” like others do. My anger stems from the fact that they were innocent Nigerians, wrongly accused of being kidnappers, unfairly profiled and gruesomely burnt alive. Yet, you, @ruffydfire, kept comparing them to terrorists. You tried to equate their horrific murder to terrorist attacks, and that is indeed where your objectivity failed you. As for the Benue killings, you can make your findings, I have never, at any point, undermined the pain or terror of those attacks. It was an act of terrorism, plain and simple, but what I reject, and will continue to reject, is the attempt to tie terrorists to a tribe, region, or state. Terrorists do not represent anyone; they are enemies of all, and because of that, it makes no sense to call out a governor to condole after an attack carried out by stateless, faceless terrorists. So now tell me, Rufai, if you are being honest with yourself, which governor were you expecting to see in Ondo or Benue after known terrorist attacks? A governor from Sokoto, Zamfara, or Katsina to show up on behalf of the terrorists? Does that make any logical sense to you? And since you keep bringing up Benue, let me remind you, if you have a short memory, that the then President Muhammadu Buhari personally visited Makurdi to condole with the victims’ families on behalf of Nigeria. The Northern Governors you have been trying to frame were among the first to visit Benue to show solidarity. The then Governor of Borno (now Vice President), Sen. Kashim Shettima, led that delegation which included Nasir el-Rufai (Kaduna), Simon Lalong (Plateau), Mohammed Badaru (Jigawa), Yahaya Bello (Kogi), and others. I’m not asking you to let go of whatever resentment you may have toward northerners — as I don’t know your motive behind that. But I urge you, as a journalist, to change your approach. Many young people admire you and look up to you. They deserve to see a voice of truth, not one driven by prejudice.

I am shocked that a former government spokesman is now trying to justify that being killed by terrorist in Nigeria is no big deal in a bid to play the card of hatred. I ask what truths you tell your superiors when you were in the corridors of power! Some lives don't matter in Nigeria. So those people that get killed in Benue should never be given a condolence visit?, like they never had families and they never had dreams.Because they were killed by terrorist???, No big deal right!they should not be shown empathy?Like I ask those that get killed in Ondo, should never be paid a condolence visit? Your assertion that those people should never be visited just means you believe some lives are more important than some. What is wrong if a governor visits and shows solidarity against the barbarity of the killings. If a governor from other parts of the country shows empathy,it's no big deal.Havent governors from the South donated to the North during a disaster? Didn't Gov Wike donate 500m to Sokoto fire victims,so your logic is defective SO I ask, is killing people in the House of God not barbaric, like in Ondo? Just like in Uromi. You know what it means for worshippers to be murdered and their blood flooded the church, and your justification is that that was a terrorist attack. but the mob attack in Uromi is more barbaric! Really, are we playing that game now? Is there a scale for barbarity? Are you the judge of that scale? We must have a society that condemns mob attacks in Uromi, just like it condemns terrorist attacks in Ondo. There should be no Ritcher scale of some sort for barbarity! All I fight for every day is a society that demands justice for hunters killed in Uromi and the villagers killed in Benue and Ondo. The day you understand that all lives matter and we collectively address the failure of government, then we can have veritable conversations to move the country forward. Those who were killed by known terrorists should also be visited by the governor, those that were kidnapped in Uromi also deserve to be visited by the governor. Isn't it shocking that when Deborah was killed, we didn't get this wide condemnation. She was killed by a mob, but everyone was mute. In the ensuing violence, religious houses were destroyed.Even the presidential candidate of the PDP deleted his tweet condemning the situation. Show me where you spoke up for Deborah? Till date no Justice, why haven't you spoken up for Deborah? Should we even have terrorists kill people in a country regularly. And we then behave like it's normal. In your message, you normalize the killings by terrorist which is most annoying Doesn't it speak volumes. All lives matter! The truth is bitter, Conscience is an open wound!
