Iran Says US Talks Show Progress. Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman, Esmaeil Baghaei, said Tehran and Washington have made progress in ongoing discussions, though an official agreement has not yet been finalized. Speaking in remarks reported by Iranian media, Baghaei suggested that parts of the issues discussed, some of which were addressed during talks held in Isfahan, have seen movement. However, he stressed that reaching these elements does not mean all matters are settled. Baghaei noted that the final, “written and signed” provisions have not been agreed upon yet, indicating negotiations remain ongoing and could require further consultations.

Somaliland President Urges Ethiopia, Kenya, and UAE to Recognize Nation Officially. The President of the Republic of Somaliland, Mr. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi (Cirro), has urged Ethiopia, Kenya, and the United Arab Emirates to officially recognize Somaliland, calling on them to follow the example set by Israel, which recognized Somaliland. In remarks reported by Ethiopia’s Reporter newspaper, President Cirro said Somaliland’s case for independence is grounded in its legal, historical, and ethical rights. He also appealed to African Union member states to revisit the recommendations released by an AU Fact-Finding Mission that was sent to Somaliland in 2005.

In an interview with The Telegraph, the president added that #Britain should support Somaliland, particularly if it backs human rights, freedom of expression, and democratic stability. Cirro also stated that the Britain holds a crucial diplomatic position in shaping Somaliland’s future as the #UnitedNations (@UN ) “penholder”, making it responsible for the region. The president pointed to how his unrecognised country had a quarter of a century of elections and kept terrorism and piracy in check. Meanwhile, #Somalia remains a failed state.

#Somaliland: Lawyer Guleid Ahmed Says He Was Summoned Again After Facebook Posts. A lawyer, Guleid, said he was summoned and interrogated by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) over Facebook posts, following what he described as public threats by the Minister of Interior. In a statement, Guleid said the first summons came after the threats, and that he told investigators freedom of expression is a constitutional right. He said that on 21 May he was called in and questioned, and that he later told police he complied with the initial summons out of respect. Guleid added that, in his view, legal compulsion can only occur through a court order, not through police summons alone, and he rejected the idea that intimidation could change his approach. The lawyer said he was summoned again on the day of his statement, reiterating his position that he would not be “silenced.” He concluded by saying the constitution guarantees freedom of expression.

Oil Shipment to Japan Expected After Hormuz Transit. A #Japanese-operated oil tanker is expected to arrive on Monday at an oil refining facility in Japan’s Aichi Prefecture after transiting the Strait of Hormuz, according to reports by NHK. The vessel has been in transit following the end of the blockade period in the region. The tanker, flying the flag of Panama and named Idemitsu Maru, is carrying roughly 2 million barrels of crude oil delivered from #SaudiArabia.

President Trump said the Strait of Hormuz must remain open adding that no taxes or fees should be imposed on ships passing through the route.

The Minister of the Ministry of Livestock of the Republic of Somaliland proposed the importance of implementing a dedicated port for the export of live animals (a Livestock Terminal) in order to enhance the quality and efficiency of services related to livestock exports. The minister stated that this project will play a major role in strengthening Somaliland’s capacity in the live livestock export market, particularly in the #MiddleEast markets, which are among the main destinations for exporting Somaliland’s livestock.

The institute will document Somaliland’s history and struggle for recognition, preserve records of alleged crimes committed against its people, and pursue justice and reparations. Ambassador Mohamed Haji said: “I arrived today in Greece, in the capital city, Athens. I will take part in the Athens Defence Summit, a gathering attended by senior heads of state, the Ministers of Defence and Foreign Affairs, and some of the highest-ranking security officials from countries around the world. Somaliland’s presence at this forum shows that the Republic of Somaliland has officially joined the world’s strategic discussions. #UAE Announces Interception of Six Drones in Past 48 Hours. The United Arab Emirates’ Ministry of Defence said that its air defence systems intercepted and stopped six unmanned aircraft during the past 48 hours. The ministry added that the drones were said to have belonged to the enemy and attempted to target civilian areas and critical facilities across the country. According to the ministry, air defence forces destroyed the drones in the air. It also stated that the UAE remains fully prepared to defend itself.

He also said the embassy will be the eighth foreign mission opened in Jerusalem.
