Poorly installed bike lanes have only worsened Toronto’s record-breaking gridlock, making us the worst city for traffic in North America. It’s time to take action - that’s why we are removing Bloor, University and Yonge Street bike lanes. #traffic #gridlock #bikelanes #toronto #ontario

@foster_type @colorblindk1d Thinking about EMPs and actually having enough knowledge to have a coherent policy prescription regarding EMPs is not the same thing.

@foster_type I was in two meeting in the last two weeks where EMPs were brought up as a risk. I do not work anywhere near DoD. So yeah, I’d agree with you.

@MayorOliviaChow what’s the plan given the governments plan to rip out bike lanes? Surely the city isn’t going to allow folks to be killed on University, Bloor and Younge right?

@OldSanuk @jen_keesmaat We don’t want to have a car? It’s more fun, and faster and easier to get around on a bike. My commute would be double if it was on a car than on my bike. I own a car. I dislike using it. It’s expensive to use, park and maintain. It’s wonderful to sail by traffic

@jen_keesmaat The basic problem is the economy, in that city cyclists cannot afford a car, just like China circa 1982, when I was first there. Until the economy grows, the answer is more public transit, not bicycles. Cyclists are safest riding buses, subways, streetcars, and light transit.

Just imagine when major bike lanes are removed, and all these cyclists begin using traffic lanes—as they are fully entitled to do under the Ontario Highway Traffic Act. Dare I say...this will cause traffic congestion on a whole new level. The Province hasn't thought this through.
Chris Kemp (cbkemp.bsky.social)@mindoverdata

A huge and passionate crowd gathered at Queen's Park to let @fordnation know that bicycle infrastructure saves lives and is a key part of *actually* addressing traffic congestion. More people biking = less people driving. #BikeTO #TOpoli #ONpoli

It would be cool if Taylor Swift said she needs the Eglinton Crosstown to be open ahead of her Toronto shows.

NEW: Ontario Transportation Minister @PrabSarkaria announces govt plan to introduce legislation that would require municipalities to receive provincial approval before removing traffic lanes to install new bike paths, calling the current process "frankly out of control.” #onpoli

@PrabSarkaria Also - why the hell aren’t you taking public transit and the GO train to work? Worried you’ll have to talk to people who elected you or something? No other good reason…

Our province is stuck in traffic and bike lanes aren’t helping. In the coming days our government will unveil our plan to work with our municipal partners to ensure bike lanes are introduced in a way that reflects the needs of the entire community. thestar.com/opinion/contri…

@PrabSarkaria Rocks for brains. Put bike lanes where bikers are. Because that’s where they are most useful and where the most lives will be saved. Also - no evidence in the article that bike lanes are making congestion worse? Might wanna find some data first pal
