April 6th 1982: An order is issued demanding that all Falklands civilians must now carry personal identification cards at all times, and that all ham radio transmissions must cease. All radio equipment is to be handed over to the military forces. The Islanders mostly ignore it...

The equipment of a British soldier at the Battle of the Somme. (1916) During the Battle of the Somme, British soldiers often carried more than 60 pounds of gear as they prepared to go “over the top” and cross the exposed expanse of no man’s land. Their equipment included essentials for both survival and combat: a Lee-Enfield rifle with ammunition, a bayonet for close-quarters fighting, entrenching tools for digging cover, and a steel helmet designed to protect against shrapnel. Soldiers also packed rations, water, mess tins, and personal items such as letters, shaving kits, and basic medical supplies. Many were instructed to walk—not run—across open ground while heavily loaded, all under the threat of machine-gun fire and artillery. On the battle’s first day alone, British forces suffered over 57,000 casualties, marking it as one of the deadliest days in military history. To move more quickly, many soldiers discarded parts of their kit during the advance, leaving behind a scattered trail of equipment that archaeologists continue to uncover on the battlefield today.

This is Alex Baker, MP for Aldershot & my MP. She voted to scrap my right to a Jury trial. She is meant to represent her constituents and instead towed the party line. The sooner we get these clowns out of office the better.

🇬🇧📺 Classic British TV 📺🇬🇧
Last of the Summer Wine holds a solid place in my top 5 favorite Classic British Television shows. I understand that it may not be everyone's cup of tea, but I personally believe it is a work of art with talented actors and a brilliant writer at the helm. What's your opinion?
