MPSCS recognizes EMS Week 2026, May 17–23, honoring EMTs, paramedics, dispatchers, and EMS professionals nationwide for their lifesaving service and dedication to public safety. The first 911 call was made in 1968, transforming emergency response across the country.

MPSCS recognizes Peace Officers Memorial Day on May 15, honoring U.S. law enforcement officers who have died or been disabled in the line of duty. We remember their sacrifice and thank those who continue to serve our communities.

MPSCS recognizes National Police Week, established under President Kennedy to honor officers who risk their lives daily. We remember fallen officers, support their families, and thank those who continue to serve and protect our communities.

A special edition of Tails of MPSCS. During National Public Service Recognition Week we welcomed Dewey the @MichStatePolice Therapy Dog. This lovable 2y/o Golden brought smiles and support to our team. Thank you MSP, SGT Blaine Bachman, & Dewey for brightening our halls.

MPSCS recognizes Public Service Recognition Week, celebrated the first week of May, honoring federal, state, county, local, and tribal government employees. We thank all public servants for their dedication, professionalism, and service to our communities.

MPSCS honors National Correctional Officers Week, established May 5, 1984, by President Reagan. Correctional officers ensure court orders are carried out and support public safety through strong communication and service. We thank them for their dedication.

MPSCS attended the Michigan Drone Association Conference, exploring new tech and policies in public safety drones. A Michigan MABAS presentation showed how drones sped up Gaylord Ice Storm damage assessments helping drive MPSCS’s future drone program.

Tails of MPSCS Meet Ozzy Pawsborne, the Prince of Barkness. A 10-month-old Weimaraner who loves outdoor play and couch snuggles with his dad NCC RCT 12 Brooks Ehlert. Future MPSCS role? Coverage tester or tower rescue dog!

Congratulations to Chuck Thomas on his retirement after 33 years of service with DNR and MPSCS. A trusted leader in public safety communications and recipient of the 2022 Director’s Award, Chuck leaves a lasting legacy. Wishing him all the best in retirement.

Tails of MPSCS: Benny, a 4-year-old dachshund/beagle mix, loves walks with his mom Lynnzie & dad Jeff Kelley and destroying toys. If he worked at MPSCS, he’d be in the NCC, keeping the site & sidewalk secure from anyone passing by!
