Yes! We’ve been paying the “Public Benefits charge” for about 20 years in CT but we didn’t know about it b/c it wasn’t broken out or itemized in our electric bills.
In 2023, I passed a law that requires the utilities to say exactly how much you’re charged for “Public Benefits” by the state government as a fraction of your bill.
I fought for transparency b/c I believe we have the right to know what we’re paying for in our electric bills. Now I’m running for governor to cut the Public Benefits tax—which funds dozens of government programs—and make energy affordable in CT.

NEWS: A Tesla Model S just drove itself from Los Angeles to New York with zero disengagements. Owner Alex Roy and a team of independent autonomy experts just completed the 3,081 mile trip on FSD V14.2.2.3 with no disengagements. They were hands-off for the entire trip, including charging stops. It took 58 hours and 22 minutes at an average speed of 64 mph. The whole trip was caught on camera, and the video will be released soon.
