Yesterday I was at Heaton Park Synagogue, remembering Jews murdered by a terrorist. Today, Jews are stabbed on a London street. More terrorism. This does not come out of nowhere. It follows months of poison that downplays antisemitism, treats Jewish fear as suspect and turns public space into a place where that hostility feels normal. We’re told “antisemitism has no place in our society.” Then act like it.

Kelly chemo cringing, day 31. 3rd blast done. But now comes dreaded platelet injection. Most folk do "ok"; it smashes me to a sobbing ball of pain and fear. Nurse has a plan. No other plans needed, ta 🙏. What I DO need are your prayers, wishes, vibes, itrw or on here. Wish me🤞

Cancer update. Poking over. Treatment starts! Now: PICC line insert. Then chemo and immuno drugs begin ("tough" say the docs). I'm wearing my Disraeli Gears hoodie, multi-hueded Dongeal tweed lid, and acid green shirt. Not Psychedia v Chemo... Psych *helping* the Drugs! 💚✊️💊

Jeffrey Lampert,  June 1939 – February 2026 Every girl should be as lucky to have a dad like mine. He always encouraged me and my sisters to shoot for the stars, never take no for an answer and that if you want something hard enough, you can make it happen. He was so proud of us and told us he loved us almost every day.  He taught us that stubbornness can be a virtue – although he stretched this somewhat with his 30-year fight against the bank that took our home after persuading him to sign a personal guarantee. He spent the last years of his life valiantly fighting to stop that from happening to other people and his story will be a chapter in a new book about the perfidy of the banking system.  He was always an optimist. Sometimes we would laugh at it. Even as his body began to fail him, he would insist, ‘I am going to get myself better’. We wished it was true.  He was someone who could charm everyone around him. He always had a twinkle in his eyes – he loved people and he loved to make them laugh, especially my mother. Those two fought like fishwives – no one else had to ask the grandparents to stop swearing in front of the children – but they laughed together every day. Every night he would reduce my mother to hysterics with a single look as he thought it was good for her.  My dad loved to debate, play devil’s advocate. He hated the idea of complacency and establishment, although he made friends with MPs and Lords. He was obsessed with politics and struggled with the dire state of the world which he said was the worst he’d ever encountered in his 86 years.  But he loved to be in the world. Growing up, my parents were both cool and glamorous. They’d go to the fashionable restaurants and have big dinner parties. Covid had a big impact on their lives, as it did many of their generation.  It is strange to talk about him using the past tense. As I chatted with my mother last night, I kept expecting him to shuffle in with his big grin and a hint of a sparkle in his blue eyes.  Bye dad, I am going to miss you so much. I love you.

Tottenham defender Ben Davies has undergone a second surgery on the ankle injury suffered in the loss to West Ham. The operation not expected to impact his recovery time. Concerns though over his World Cup involvement with Wales. With @MPearlo bbc.co.uk/sport/football…

Written in November 1944, this letter from Chaim Herman to his wife and child was discovered after the war, buried by the remains of the Auschwitz-Birkenau gas chambers. It is read here by Jason Isaacs.

You don’t choose your father-in-law, so I felt so lucky Hugh was mine. A Welsh sporting great and true inspiration. Funny, kind, generous beyond measure. I’ll miss the chats, brilliant stories, bad jokes and BBQs. I’ll miss the company. Thanks for everything. Some innings 🤍

As a player, Hugh Morris was a specialist, and an accomplished one as an opening batter for Glamorgan and England. But in terms of his life in cricket as a whole, the former ECB boss was an extraordinary all-rounder. A warm and humble man too. Obituary: bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/…

Geraint Parry was the first person I spoke to at Wrexham when I started as a reporter. We used called him the nicest man in football. And he is. If Joey Jones was the embodiment of the club & town on the pitch, Geraint has been Mr Wrexham behind the scenes bbc.co.uk/sport/football…
