(1) Tonight, supported by @BIDLeicester, our team is again out in Leicester City Centre supporting those out and about for #paydayweekend. This week, for the first time in almost a year, we’re joined by @SJAEastCRU with two cycle responders to get to people as quickly as possible

There is an issue affecting the national 999 call system. BT is working to resolve this issue as soon as possible but, in the meantime, if an emergency ambulance response is required, please continue to call 999 in the first instance. If your call is not successfully connected, hang up and re-dial 111. Richard Lyne, Strategic Commander at EMAS said: “Our call handlers in our control room are working tirelessly to answer the 999 calls which are still coming through to ensure the most appropriate response is given to help those with the greatest clinical need. “We urge people to seriously consider the alternative services available and if it’s possible to make your own way to a treatment centre. For example, if a relative or friend can take you by car. “People with minor illness or injury should visit their local GP, pharmacy, or urgent care centres (appointments not necessary) or visit nhs.uk for healthcare advice and details of other NHS care local to you. “This allows us to send our ambulances to people who need the life-saving equipment and clinical skills on board.” When there is a new update to give, we will do so on our website and our Twitter, Facebook and Instagram social media channels.
