Our recruitment has been very unconvincing I’m hoping it was Warne’s influence but I’m not convinced on any of the signings this season especially Jackson, Osborn + Kenzo all look completely out of the depth, this is to go with the wanky loans like Chirewa and Harness #dcfc

@Peston As a LA Educational Psychologist the pay award for the Soulbury Officers for 2024 hasn’t been agreed and was 2.5% the there isn’t recognition for support services in education which impacts all of the points raised in this thread

There are two reasons why teachers’ unions are deeply unhappy at the government’s recommendation to the statutory review body that this year’s pay settlement should be 2.8%. The first is that it will probably mean teachers’ pay lagging private sector pay for something like the 15th consecutive year. And will not make good the inflationary erosion of the last two years, even after this summer’s 5.5% award. There is very little chance, on a settlement of that magnitude, that the chronic shortage of teachers and teaching assistance will be remedied. Union leaders are already muttering about probable industrial action. Sorry parents. The second cause of teachers’ concern is that any settlement will have to be funded by making cuts to school budgets. There will be no additional money for salary increases. So where does Bridget Philipson, the education secretary, think there is fat in schools that can be eliminated? Well last night she met union leaders as a courtesy, to forewarn them about her submission to the pay review body. She told them she did not want or expect them to find the money by eliminating core education provision. Instead she suggested they find the money by moving energy suppliers or finding a new bank. It’s what you might call the Uswitch approach to increasing public sector productivity. And I cannot find a single union rep who thinks it’ll avoid the need for redundancies. In a nutshell, this is not what teachers - who overwhelmingly voted for Labour - expected from this government.

⚽️𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐯 𝐒𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐳𝐞𝐫𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝 🏟️𝐃𝐮̈𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐝𝐨𝐫𝐟 𝐀𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐚 🗓️𝐒𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝟔𝐭𝐡 𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐲, 𝟏𝟖:𝟎𝟎 𝐤𝐢𝐜𝐤-𝐨𝐟𝐟 Many England fans have based themselves in Düsseldorf throughout this tournament, or at least visited on occasions, but for those that haven’t, we hope this info helps. 𝐄𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐝𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 England fans will likely make full use of the Altstadt (Old Town) area and the river front from there. But Düsseldorf is big enough that you won’t struggle to find something that suits. If you like Fan Zones, you can head to Burgplatz, near the Altstadt, or Schauspielhaus. There is a public viewing area on the riverfront, just along from Burgplatz. Fans without tickets can watch the game at any of the above. Do not travel to the stadium. 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐥 Fans will once again have free travel from 6am on Saturday 6th July until 6pm on Sunday 7th July, as long as you have a match ticket and have downloaded the UEFA Fan Pass via the UEFA EURO 2024 app. The free travel can only be used on regional services (no IC/ICE/EC trains) within the VRR and VRS regions. Fans travelling from outside of these regions must pay for a ticket, you can make use of €29.90 ICE train tickets, but you must have booked more than 24 hours in advance of travel. 𝐆𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 ESTC members are based on the north side of the stadium. The stadium will open at 15:00. It is advised that fans use the U78 tram line to the Sportpark Nord/Europlatz from the main station or from Heinrich-Heine-Allee, near the Altstadt. We have been told trams will run approximately every 3-5 mins, with capacity for around 650 people on each tram. You can also walk to the stadium (or take an e-scooter 😉) along the river, which takes around 75 mins. Swiss fans will be meeting further along the river front towards the stadium and walking en masse to the stadium around 2:30pm, so would expect that to be crowded then. If situated in the south, there are some shuttle buses running from Heinrich-Heine-Allee but they really aren’t recommended if you aren’t in the south. It is a very long walk to the north side if you do this. There are also shuttle buses from the airport, and the airport station (two different locations). 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐮𝐦 The stadium will remain open for a good chunk of time after the game, if you wanted to let the crowds die down. 𝐀𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐚𝐦𝐞 The tram stop you get off at going to the ground is not the same as what you will use after. You’ll have to use Merkur-Spiel-Arena/Messe Nord for the U78, which is located at the south of the stadium. We expect this to be busy but games that have taken place before have seemingly been relatively smooth. It can take around an hour to clear. You can also walk back along the river, or make use of shuttles back to the airport and then it’s a short train back to the city from there. 𝐓𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐭𝐬 If fans have any issues with tickets, you can visit the ticket resolution centres at the stadium which open seven hours before kick-off. 𝐅𝐚𝐧𝐬’ 𝐄𝐦𝐛𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐲 The Fans’ Embassy will be located at Schadowplatz, not far from the Altstadt. We will be there on Friday 5th July, 12:00-16:00, and on Saturday 6th July, 10:00-15:30. Issue 189 of the Free Lions will be available to collect, as well as a limited number of issues 185, 186, 187 and 188. We also have some tournament guidebooks. ESTC staff will join us on matchday. Times TBC. 𝐅𝐮𝐫𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 You can find further info on the UEFA EURO 2024 app. There will be further info on our social media channels in the build up to the game, as well as info from the FA.
