After a tour of Middle Eastern countries, he recently visited Turkey and then Syria. In a country that just a year and a half ago was allied with the Kremlin, Zelensky was welcomed with full honors. It appears a future scheme is emerging to supply Qatari gas through Syria and Turkey to Europe — and possibly to Ukraine as well. In other words, what used to be Putin’s worst nightmare, and the very reason he supported Bashar al-Assad’s brutal regime for years, is now starting to become reality.
