@PowleyJacob Agreed, as a disruptor and interceptor he's basically unmatched in this division. On the ball, I have some reservations. Maybe he gives the ball away slight too often.

@MTLavery Still worry he might get found out a bit technically if we go up but he’s absolutely flawless out of possession. His reading of the game is excellent and you only have to look at the Charlton game to see what happens when he’s not there.

@fullerflavour @CallMeStat I agree. Important to remember that the majority of fans *aren't* on Twitter, though. I've never heard anything like the negativity you get on social media in and around the ground. I think most fans have a balanced, longer-term, view and realise that we're in a good place.

@CallMeStat Spot on mate. The vitriol towards Hirst too is hardly going to make him a better player. The negativity now is worse than much of the Marcus Evans era and as you say, it's the entitlement that has brought that on.

@TownInAfrica And obviously Christian is giving them all the confidence to play well. Feel sorry for Greaves, who is a formidable player and has been superb when he's played recently. But how do you drop either of the CBs. Could he play CDM?

@TownInAfrica The whole Def unit is really starting to tick. CBs excellent, FBs doing their jobs at both ends of the pitch well, and Azor at CDM is protecting them brilliantly. Now he's "learned" to read the Champ he's undroppable - see the number of interceptions he makes. Good times. #itfc

Ref makes a call on the pitch. They should get 30 seconds to check it from the moment the referee's whistle blows. If they can't make a decision in that time it wasn't a clear and obvious error, so go with the referee's call. Play on.

VAR has to be quicker. It can’t be as forensic & time-consuming as this. Four-minute delay, can’t be clear and obvious, both holding. VAR here to stay - age of technology - but VAR-free FA Cup had games flowing and fans loving it. 90-sec limit on decision-making please #NEWMCI

So today's worst case scenario is 3rd, with a game in hand and a rested squad - I'll take that. I'd imagine most will get next weekend off too. But that's easy for me to say, not having travelled half/all the way to Portsmouth. Commiserations to those who did. #itfc
