@UstDoesTech "Featurephones" are c.15 GBP (baked in social media apps) and *new* android devices 50 GBP and up. Plus there's a huge second hand market - say 50% below new. And then there's tablets. There's reasons that vape shops and mobile shops fill the same high street niche!

Has anyone bought something that could slip over the back of chairs in church into which people could put their hymn books and notice sheets etc? Any idea what they would be called?

@d_a_t_green Worse than you think - whether the manipulator has any copyright may now depend on whether they used "traditional" tools or "AI" ones.

Great. It’s now running on GB News. And it’s still up there despite my asking for it to be taken down. And they’re still calling me a vicar too.

Hi, @telegraph… I didn’t actually write this! I gave an interview to a journalist, the substantial body of which is in here but it’s not an article by me. If it were, I’d have written it differently. As it has my byline, do I get paid? telegraph.co.uk/news/2024/03/0…

@__el__sol__ @mar2vickers @SeanJonesKC No idea where that's from, but I'm guessing it's about *fanless* mini PCs (i.e. no active cooling) which can in principle have the same issues as phone or tablet (shutdowns if it gets too hot). I wouldn't personally use one of those for that reason (the Beelink boxes have fans).

@mar2vickers @MTPT @SeanJonesKC Sorry for continually hijacking this thread, but I read a bit online suggesting that these tiny PCs can overeheat, especially "if they are used as a desktop PC". Does anyone know what this means or to what extent I should be worried about this?

@WalkerMarcus It's not, but if it's made a habit of it people start actually parsing the statements of suspended Labour parliamentary candidates and that might end in free thought. Best not.

I can’t remember if it’s acceptable to criticise judges for their judgements or not. I think the last time I checked was the Supreme Court’s abortion ruling. I’m guessing now it’s destroying the rule of law again?

The Pet Abduction Bill contains a provision which should be (but isn't) described as "cat grooming." It will be committed by "inducing" a cat to leave the lawful control of its owner.

@edmundharbord One of those irregular verbs: I am sloppy; you have plagiarized; she has been arrested for criminal copyright infringement.

But seriously, what is Elon Musk doing with this crowd? Alex Jones has been successfully sued for vast sums for unconscionable lies, Andrew Tate is facing charges on horrific charges, Ramaswamy can’t speak without parroting lines given to him by hostile dictators.
