Response thesis: Christian America is not cutting it, but we can. We're Amer-I-can, not Amer-I-can't. No, this isn't about nationalism, that was purely tongue in cheek. Kind of. There are a lot of reasons why we aren't, and I won't address most. Maybe just a couple.

@Johnny_Joey I wish I could disagree with some of this, but I can't. The A-10 really is suited to the USMC. I'd bet a lot of the pilots would take a transfer, too.

For those of you not familiar. The A-10 Warthog is the ugliest, most absurdly beautiful killing machine to ever take flight. A flying chunk of titanium molded around a gatlin gun style cannon; the equally absurd 30mm GAU-8. It commands the adoration of troops on the ground as the sound of its unmistakable mating call the “brrrrrrp” overhead means several enemy fighters have been neutralized. It flies low and slow delivering death more intimately than any other fighter jet could fathom. Cloaked in armor, it’s rumored to be able to take damage to 70% of its airframe and still land with ease. It doesn’t need a long or even paved runway. The uppity nerds running the Air Force have decided to “phase them out” this year… yet here they are continuing to “get some”. I personally think that @USMC should take the them over… they fit perfectly in our “take old shit and make it great” culture.

So since we’ve been told that the A-10 can’t be built again but the plane is just such a beast…I have a suggestion…let’s make a new replacement. Here’s my proposal. The AA-20. @DaleStarkA10 what do you think? It’s basically an A-10 but with twice as much A-10!

@Joe86753091 Indeed. And recall that he had to speak both publicly and in testimony to Congress to get his message across. Angered a lot of senior officers. Didn't cross the line, because what he advocated for was undeniably reality. He said what needed to be said at high risk to himself.

sounds pretty good still: "In the war to come, God will be on the side of the heaviest air force. Don't forget it. Keep your eyes on the sky!". "In the development of air power, one has to look ahead and not backward and figure out what is going to happen, not too much what has happened".

Sometimes I wonder if this was what it was like to read Billy Mitchell's remarks a century ago. I think the military history books decades from now will have screenshots of his posts.

Bureaucracy is the only place where you can lose and still brief it as a win. It rewards the explanation, not the result. And survives failure by redefining success. I have a blood feud with bureaucracy. In case you didn’t catch that yet.

Another day, another dialysis treatment. I won’t pretend this journey is easy, because it isn’t. There are moments in that chair where the weight of it all feels overwhelming, where the financial hardship and physical toll meets mental exhaustion, and the idea of giving up quietly tries to creep in. But even in those moments, I make a conscious decision to keep going. Persistence, for me, is not about pretending to be strong every second. It’s about showing up despite the hardship. It’s about choosing endurance when comfort isn’t an option. It’s about refusing to surrender, even when the path forward is uncertain and difficult. This experience has given me a deeper appreciation for resilience, for life, and for the support of those who stand beside me, whether through words, prayers, or simply taking the time to care. If you’ve been following my story and would like to support me during this time, I’ve created a GiveSendGo campaign. Any contribution, no matter the size, or even sharing the campaign, genuinely helps lighten the burden and allows me to continue focusing on my health and recovery. Thank you to everyone who continues to stand with me. Your support means more than words can fully express. Donte here 100% of the founds go towards my medical expenses and travel back and forth to various hospitals givesendgo.com/URaSmartAssCar…

My allusion wasn't even about specifically airpower. It was about one officer with the guts to speak out against the entrenched bureaucracy and put both his name and career on the line to refocus the US military on warfighting. He saw what was coming and did something about it.

@ed_gethane @WPerry1151 @MThomasOTF I'm pointing out that analysis about the use of air power, at sea or elsewhere, is often misstated or misunderstood and sometimes rank propaganda. Stick your head back in the ground if you can't understand that.

@TimChgo9 Not when they were square. Back then, Dr. Kellogg was inspired by them to invent Triscuits.

Did you know that prior to 1986, Doritos chips were square? The inflation of the 1980s finally forced them to shrink the chips by 50%, but the triangle was to fool people into thinking they were the same size. It worked.

@Alan7098 Okay, poodle. We have B-2s, F-22s, and F-35s now. However he did it, he proved his point. Note that his main point was ossification of bureaucracy leading to degradation of warfighting capability. He saw what was coming and was a loud voice against it, and he was right.

@MThomasOTF Billy Mitchell was a fraud. His vaunted demonstration of sinking Ostfriesland was conducted under ideal conditions with his strike aircraft flying suicidally slow. The ship was a stationary, defenseless target with no damage control capability.
