New national record, and it came flying in Gaborone! 🇰🇪🏃♀️
Mercy Oketch brought it home in style, anchoring Kenya’s 4×100m mixed relay team of Moses Wasike, Milicent Ndoro, and Dennis Mwai to a blazing 41.38 at the World Athletics Relays rewriting the Kenyan record books.
They finished 4th in a stacked heat, just a heartbeat away from the final, but the message is loud and clear: Kenya’s sprint game is rising. ⚡
From 41.70 ➡️ 41.38
Progress you can’t ignore. 📈🔥
Big salute to the squad for the fight and the record! 👏🇰🇪🫡

Most people think oil is just petrol.
🛢️But 1 barrel is so much more than that
159 liters.
Here's what's actually inside:
⛽ 42% Petrol (your car)
🚛 27% Diesel
✈️ 10% Jet fuel (flight)
🧴 7% Petrochemical feedstocks (your plastics)
🚢 5% Marine fuel (your imported goods)
🔥 4% LPG (your cooking gas)
🛣️ 3% Asphalt (your roads)
🔧 2% Lubricants & waxes
Every single product on this list is now disrupted.
This is why oil isn't just a number on a screen.
It is in everything you touch.

For the third straight year I raise this in my oversight role, yet the story repeats.
Heavy rains. Flooded streets. Homes destroyed. 23 lives lost. This should PUSH us to seriously rethink how well we prepare for them, but we choose to only react when it gets bad.
What makes this hard to accept is that these rains never arrive without warning, yet every year the government behaves as though they do.
And what of the millions of persons with disabilities trapped in these disasters? When evacuation, shelter and mobility fail, their suffering multiplies.
When the same avoidable tragedies claim lives year after year, one begins to wonder: are these lives simply considered expendable?
Our preparedness must finally match the pain our communities endure. #VIP

This was me on 24th April 2024. Exactly one year ago I debated this topic in the Senate and predictably, one year later the rains are back. Once again, we're watching communities struggle with flash floods that we knew were coming. We’ve had time. We’ve had warnings, but has anything changed in county government flood preparedness, or are they still waiting for disaster to escalate before they act? #VIP
