My first “app” development and evasion experience was probably when I was 11 or 12. I was building little “apps” in Visual Basic and sending them to my sister over MSN. When MSN and NOD32 started blocking them, I kept changing things until both would stop complaining. I’d then mess with her opening and closing the CD-ROM 😂 Then I’d go back to my own computer, download “music” from LimeWire, and infect myself 😂 Half of this post probably makes no sense to the younger generation. Not that I’m old or anything.

Emo time, chat. Just wanna shout out this entire community. If you told me years ago we'd be doing a live show with @dustrial at @defcon, I would've called absolute bullshit and asked what you were trying to sell me. But here we are. We love this community more than we know how to say without becoming embarrassingly sincere on main. Every time one of you messages us saying you learned about an APT, spotted a scam, discovered some cursed corner of infosec history, or decided to start learning because of something we made, it means everything. This project can be brutally hard sometimes. Today, the girls showed me a collection of screenshots from people who learned something, bettered themselves, found support, or poured their hearts out over our work, image, or message. I cried like a fucking child. These tears are still running down my face while I am typing this right now. So, genuinely, thank you. As long as we keep this project alive, we will keep educating, supporting people, calling out scams, bullying snake oil merchants, and doing everything we can to inspire this community to learn, grow, and become better than the industry expected you to be. We want to work with more places in the community to achieve this in the future so very much We love you mammals. ☯️

Took my friend's kids to the new Spider-Man movie. I was never a Spider-Man fan, but this one was pretty good. Spoiler alert … They introduced a young Jean Grey - one of the most powerful mutants in the Marvel universe. I am a huge X-Men fan, so seeing her origin story kick off hit on another level 🔥

7 years in cybersecurity with one mission the whole time: fight cybercrime and help people. Some say it came easy because I’m a woman, a minority, whatever. It’s the opposite. The bar was never lower for me and if anything I had to clear it with people waiting for me to miss. Nothing about this journey was easy but that’s a story for another day. What I’ve learned lately: not everyone will be on your side. Only a few will, the ones who have known you for years, who know what you stand for, who have seen your work with their own eyes. This community can be brutal when drama hits. People will tear you down without knowing the other side of the story. I worked too damn hard to get here. But I am still here, still doing the work I love, even when it costs me sleep. PS: Keep your circle small. The noise fades but the work doesn’t. With love, Panda 🐼
