i hear about the sociopaths and the "psychopath" founders but never the dark empath. the sociopath feels nothing and conquers all at any cost. then you have the saints, they feel everything and try to inspire all around them "the nice guy". Both are highly marketable in today's society. a dark empath is a person who possesses full empathic capabilities, is extremely cognitive and wired directly into strong machiavellian intent. he can pick up fear, and not just that, but fcking genuinely feel it, in their bones, the way you feel it...and then, he uses it. the psychopath tends to negotiate because they genuinely do not give a shit and are void of emotions and empathy. locked in at all costs, even if detrimental or dangerous. the dark empath is sort of like a breathing reflection of their subject, a surreal being in every sense. if we are truly honest with ourselves....nobody rational builds a startup. the expected value is bullshit, and yet some humans do it because some feeling, some intolerable, insufferable itch, won't leave you and it's generally about "how the world should be", and it will not shut tf up. that is empathy, or at least a very close cousin in some other form. every founder begins as an empath shouting abuse at the worlds reality. pissed off, ready to do something about it. ultimately, as a successful founder, you will eventually fire someone whose kids you have met. you will feel the whole fckn thing, their mortgage payments affected, the initial shame and pain of firing a man with deep responsibilites. and you will do it anyway because there are other families attached to OPEX and sentiment is a fine luxury that runway cannot always sustain. the first time, it can kill you emotionally. you might drive home and sit in the car in the dark just feeling sorry for yourself. you are not the victim, perse, however you are the "victim maker" and that can be even more painful for empathetic people. by the fifth time, you notice it has become "procedural". the empathetic feeling ofc still surfaces, still feels shitty and you attach it to real life situations "he may lose his house,.I'm an asshole". but it no longer takes the time to reason or try and change your mind that is the birth of the "dark empath" founder. the emotions stay but they have no say on the matter. this is why the dark empath beats the psychopath founder, and it drives the pure predators fucking insane. the psychopath ceo always blows up because he cannot fathom loyalty, cannot feel when the room turns against him, cannot smell the resentment cooking in his own leadership. the dark empath smells it all. he knows his cofounder is drifting three months before the cofounder knows himself. he feels the investor's doubt underneath the polite, irrelevant questions. he can close the perfect candidate with terrifying precision.
