@JeniHoneybadger @FortWayneCPA There is a possibility that the cost basis is not reflected. I’d recommend they use a crypto tax tracking software if they have an explanation of why the gain is incorrect.

I have a client with an 8949 from Coinbase showing STCG not reported on 1099 of $235k but taxpayer believes that since it's not reported in 1099 it's not taxable.
I say it is.
Am I missing something on this? Why would it not be taxable

Dear IRS: if you cash a check for an amended return before you actually process the amended return, you need to put two and two together. sending a notice for a balance due that’s already been paid is ridiculous. #taxtwitter
