Published preliminary research on a computational implementation of the Curiosity, Clarity, Valence (CCV) framework. The model generates psychological trajectories that align directionally with established psychology, including differential trauma responses, learned helplessness, and preference for actions over words. All patterns emerge from the same core structural dynamics. #PhilosophyOfMind #ComputationalPsychology #EmergentCognition #CognitiveScience Preprint: zenodo.org/records/182022… Original Theory: zenodo.org/records/180491…

Maybe you're right. It is a small sample size, but 11 game loss streaks aren't exactly common, and the data surrounding those pretty much say the season is over, regardless of sample size or time of season. We can argue about where Soto should be, but at the end of the day its moot. We both know he will be batting 2nd like he normally does. I honestly don't care where he bats. Win a damn game.

@M_C_Alexander @Cryler__ It's a 2 week sample size. It's not relevant data in any way, shape, or form. Of course it's been awful. Lot of lineups have been awful in the tiny sample sizes. Soto being behind Lindor/Bichette doesn't get them more pitches in the zone to hit than Soto being on base does.

If Soto is back tomorrow he needs to be leadoff. I've been banging this drum for basically a year now and this should be the time to try it

This lineup without Soto is literally the worst in the league statistically. Struggling does not even come close to describing this lineup right now. You want to see more plate appearances from Soto. I get it, and it is the logical move from a long-term analytical perspective. However, this isn't just about analytics, and it isn't even a long-term thing (as I stated before). This is literally just my position on what I believe would help get the team going to get out of the slump. Soto behind Lindor and Bo means they get more pitches in the zone to help them break out. It means that if they do get on base there is a reliable threat coming up to drive them in. Once they get going the conversation changes. The team has lost 11 in a row. They have a team OPS of .624 (30th), a team OBP of .288 (29th), bottom of the league in BA. Soto leading off means he gets on and then gets left on base the majority of the time (unless he hits a HR). Soto behind those guys means that maybe they get better pitches. Maybe they have better at bats. Maybe they're in a better spot mentally because they don't have to press knowing Soto is behind them. There's a value right now for this massively slumping team in having Soto bat behind guys instead of in front of them.

@M_C_Alexander @Cryler__ Again, you contradicted yourself. You can't have the guys at the top be good at getting hits in front of Soto but not good at getting hits to drive him in. Maximizing your best hitter's ABs is the most valuable thing you can do. It isn't close. The lineup is struggling but good.

Have you been watching the games. I wouldn't trust this team to drive someone in off a pitching machine. I would rather the one guy who can actually hit be in a position to drive these bums in on the off chance they get lucky and get on base. I am not saying that he should bat 3rd forever. I was saying he should bat 3rd right now (offering protection to Lindor and Bo). When Lindor gets going he should be a staple in leadoff, and if Bo gets going he can move to 3rd in the order because he has a history of being good with RISP. I don't like leadoff Soto because he is probably the only guy with 35+ HR potential this season. You don't want your main power threat coming up as leadoff, or later in games after the bottom of the order gets out. Yes, Lindor has power, but we are 22 games in, and he has 1 HR and 1 RBI. I don't see him having a great year this year, even if he does turn it around. We aren't the Dodgers. We don't have a burden of riches where we can just throw our best hitter out there for the first at bat of the game. If the team were playing up to their potential, then I would have Soto bat 2nd. Either way, this team sucks, and it doesn't look like Soto is coming back tonight, so get ready for number 12.

@M_C_Alexander @Cryler__ And finally if the team can't "drive him in" if he bats leadoff, as you claim, then having him bat 3rd is THAT MUCH WORSE. If they can't drive him in because they can't get hits, they can't be on base to drive in because they CAN'T GET HITS. So you want Soto up more to hit a HR.

Batting first has 2 outcomes (he gets on base or he gets out). Batting 2nd has 3 possible outcomes (he gets on base, he drives in a run, he gets out). Batting 3rd has a higher probability when it comes to driving in a run (because there is an extra chance for a baserunner before he gets up to bat while still maintaining his guaranteed 1st inning appearance). That being said, batting leadoff may give him an extra at bat every night which is also extremely valuable. I am torn, and I don't think there is a "correct" decision. It boils down to what role you want him to be in. Do you want him to drive in runs or be the spark that gets on base for others to drive him in, and I personally think he's better as a run producer than a run scorer from a team makeup standpoint because that's what we need. Right now, the team has shown no signs that they would even be able to drive him in if he gets on base, thus eliminating his value as leadoff altogether.

@Cryler__ @M_C_Alexander Batting 1st is correct, but it's only better than hitting 2nd by a small-ish margin assuming Lindor is batting leadoff and 'himself' aka elite-adjacent. Batting him anything below 2nd should be cause for a manager being fired immediately. The amount of win rate you lose is BIG.

The issue in general is making a two way player distinct from a rule perspective in the first place. From a roster standpoint Ohtani is a pitcher. He doesn’t stop being a pitcher from a roster perspective on days when he isn’t pitching. That being said, my opinion on what the rule should be is in the first reply. Get rid of the pitcher roster limit altogether and let the teams decide whether they want to sacrifice offense for pitching, and to your point about developing more two-way players, I agree, and forcing teams to choose between pitching or offense would lead to them wanting to develop more two players.

@AlTheBoss03 Pitching has gotten too good and the style of hitting that allows for that in the first place is frowned upon and rarely encouraged. I mean, hell, people hitting .275 these days are looked at the same way guys hitting .300 were when I was younger.

The sky is falling for the Mets, but it isn't too late for the team to find shelter and turn it around. This homestand will probably decide the rest of the season. We have Soto returning this homestand and McLean on the bump tomorrow. Every turn around starts with one game. LGM! #mets

@Metsallday18 Stearns wanted to place the blame for the collapse on everyone not associated with any of his decisions or hires. He got rid of the players past GMs brought in. He got rid of the coaching staff that weren't his guys. This is Stearns' team...and they've lost 11 games in a row.

@MattTalkToEm He's a guy who hit 41 HR in AA-AAA in 2021. Low average hitter with a lot of pop; pop that this lineup desperately needs. I get it, and for this payroll it shouldn't be the case, but for what this team is right now, it makes perfect sense.

My issue was primarily with letting Alonso leave. Nimmo and McNeil were whatever. Alonso was a great power threat and a good team glue guy. Trevor May has talked about his off the field stuff with the team in some of his content, and it’s just something the team feels like it’s missing. This team just feels like a downgrade in almost every facet of the game.

People calling for McNeil of all people are not serious and just want to be "right" about losing fan favorites. Diaz walked. Pete had a crazy contract. Was time to move on from Nimmo. This team COLLAPSED LAST YEAR, had one of the worst second half teams. Enough. #Mets

with the exception of Nimmo, none of the players the Mets moved on from are performing, but yea we should have just ran it back and hoped something changed!

@JuanSotoIsKing @samwilbur A competent baseball team doesn’t give up 2-3 runs in the first 1/3 of the game. Baseball has always been a game of momentum and mental acumen. Talent only goes so far. But yes, letting 60% of our offensive production walk was definitely a winning move.

The Mets have almost 120 million dollars tied up in injuries and dead money. That is about 1/3 of their projected luxury tax payroll of 381+ million. This makes them a 238-million-dollar team. It is unacceptable for a 238-million-dollar team to lose 10 in a row. #mets
