Why #brexit is a religion: * It promotes suffering for a greater good which no one has actually seen * It objects rationality and data * If things go pearshaped, you just have to believe harder * Leaders have own agenda and live in great wealth

@VaushV No, if these 'Bernie or bust' people fail to vote for whoever the democratic nominee is, then another four years of Trump will be on them. Requests to 'drop out' are a sign of entitlement. See In the UK the 'no compromise' socialists just got another 5 years of Conservatives!

If Trump gets re-elected because Warren’s refusal to drop out leads to a brokered convention where Biden emerges the winner with a demoralized Democrat voter base, we are morally obligated to make Warren supporters feel like shit about it

@mikegalsworthy Brexit: a mediocre educated and performing former empire with identity crisis and insecurity of its place in the world. This brexiteer lacks the self awareness that he brings that in full display.

@peterfrancon @pauldoc8 @philleehh @BettGunther Obviously FPTP is a problem, but still, >40% for Johnson is insane. It just shows what an utter shambles opposition was and how inept journalists are. For the sake of ‘balance’ BBC broadcasted 50% fiction & 50% fact. Laura K was eating out of BJ hands, reality is slowly hitting.

@ChristineWeth13 @philleehh @wayward24 It is well known not all British people want this. But we have limited if not zero options to do anything. This is their fight, we cannot interfere in UK politics. Nor do we wish to reward the Johnson govt for being thick as mince and harm our own interests in the process.

@PippaCrerar Maybe it’s in the best interest of the UK to have a very painful Brexit, so that the Brexiteers will need to take ownership as well as the tabloids with their idiotic rants. The UK needs a complete overhaul. Also of the political system btw.

@georgesWHU @djones68288710 @bencorke @RogTallbloke @vonderleyen I also don’t believe central control is good. Not that it will happen. What I do believe is currently EU countries are wasting money because they have forces with different technology and purposes that could be spent wiser with joint procurement or specialization of countries.

@nickynoo007 @NatashaJahnse @lunaperla @cliodiaspora @antoni_UK @GuitarMoog I understand the feeling re: ‘apply’. Re: paying. It’s common in NL to only use public funds for things that are for the public as a whole. Just like registering a business at a Chamber of Commerce costs administrative money for the company instead of being paid from public funds

@BridgfordMark @nickynoo007 @cliodiaspora @antoni_UK @GuitarMoog We Dutch don’t go low. It’s just a paperwork and costs what every paperwork costs, like a parking ticket. No hostile environment here., everyone speaks English and welcomes you. As opposed to someone speaking French on the street in UK and being told “we voted for you to leave”.

@georgesWHU @djones68288710 @bencorke @RogTallbloke @vonderleyen As far as I know it is important to align forces (have complementary equipment, same training) so nations can act as one force. However, each nation has the right to veto its own participation in a certain mission. So forces remain 'national' and joining a mission is voluntary.

@djones68288710 @bencorke @RogTallbloke @vonderleyen Errrm. I think Britain surrendered to Russia. You did not fight back their involvement in pro-Brexit campaigns nor in killings on UK soil. Also EU forces must be able to fend off Russia. There is no 'EU army' though, it is a cooperation of national armies.

@packetsniffer99 @ElJeffery13 @rmw @Richardmassey82 @greycells I do not have an impression you care. You didn’t care when voting. I assume brexiteers - to whom ownership is kind of an issue - will look at the ‘experts’ (remainers) to pick up the pieces when it goes pearshaped. Or better, blame ‘remoaners’ for sabotaging their pipe dream.

@packetsniffer99 @ElJeffery13 @rmw @Richardmassey82 @greycells 1/2 I am both an ‘Amsterdammer’, a Dutchman, a European, a global citizen, an Ajax-fan. I can be all those simultaneously. One guy walking around in a blue suite with yellow stars does not mean...

@packetsniffer99 @ElJeffery13 @rmw @Richardmassey82 @greycells 2/2 Thatcher brought it up in early 80’s, we’re nearly 40 years down the road and Italians still eat spaghetti and Scandinavians still have more composure than southerners. It doesn’t change. However some still sell it as if EU is a project to mold all cultures into one.

@packetsniffer99 @ElJeffery13 @rmw @Richardmassey82 @greycells 1/2 Data are by definition uninspiring. However, voteleave chose to sell a pack of lies wrapped in emotive issues as identity which has zero to do with EU. EU is a bureaucratic project, not loveable but it doesn’t need to be. The idea that EU touches on identity is insane.
