5 years ago today my life took a major milestone detour, without my choosing. The cancer diagnosis that I was given on this day would go on to change my life, in a drastic way, and ultimately change me. You don’t come out of that experience unchanged. When you ask the Dr immediately after a stage 3 cancer diagnosis if it’s curable, and they pause, look you in the eye and say, well, we’re hopeful. They didn’t say no. But they also didn’t say yes. You have to be strong, you have to be positive, you have to keep going forward. In my head that day there was no other option. So today, I needed to just open that door a bit, to everything I went through in my journey, good, bad & ugly, to feel it, remember it, and be grateful. And that is most definitely what I am. And I will never stop being grateful. For so much. For everything. For everyone I love. For my health. For MPC. For all the absolutely amazing adventures I’ve had since then. And all the ones I will go on. Because I’m still here. So pondering all that, I walked my heart out tonight. Tuned in to what I needed to within myself, and tuned out. Soaked in my surroundings, listened to my music, and just kept walking.
